Description
Lusail Iconic Stadium, often known as Lusail Stadium, is a football stadium in Lusail, Qatar. The stadium will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
The Lusail Stadium is owned by the Qatar Football Association and is one of eight stadiums being refurbished for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.
The stadium is around 23 kilometers north of Doha.
The Lusail Super Cup game was played at Lusail Stadium on September 9, 2022.
The stadium conversion procurement process began in 2014.
HBK Contracting (HBK) and China Railway Construction Corporation collaborated to build the stadium (CRCC).
HBK Engineering was in charge of the MEP work.
The stadium was designed by the British firm Foster + Partners, and it is scheduled to open in 2020. The Lusail Stadium, like the other venues planned for the 2022 World Cup, will be cooled by solar power and will have a zero-carbon footprint.
On April 11, 2017, construction began.
The Stadium’s development was initially slated to be completed in 2020. It was supposed to hold three friendly matches until the 2022 World Cup, but because the stadium’s development was delayed, it will now host ten games, including the final.
It is intended that after the World Cup, it would be converted into a 40,000-seat stadium. Excess seating will be eliminated, and the building’s other components will be transformed into a communal center featuring shops, cafés, sporting and education facilities, and a health clinic.
Lusail stadium, like other stadiums built for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, acquired a five-star rating from the GSAS on August 16, 2022, for its design and construction.
Amnesty International slammed Qatar in a September 2021 report for failing to investigate the deaths of migrant laborers.
Amnesty International revealed the findings of a poll of over 17,000 football fans from 15 countries in September 2022, finding that 73% supported FIFA compensating migrant workers in Qatar for human rights breaches. Following Amnesty’s poll, FIFA issued a statement lauding the progress made for migrant workers.
