[lwptoc]

Fethiye is located in the Lycia region of Turkey, on the Mediterranean coast.

Fethiye is a tourist destination with a multicultural vibe. It features a great marina and a lively nightlife. The town is also a great place to visit if you want to see the interior countryside, and it’s perhaps the only city in the world with sarcophagi in the streets. When floodlit at night, these pre-Roman Lycian antiquities are exceptionally impressive. The town has a population of roughly 50,000 people, but during the busy season, from April to the end of October, when off-shore inhabitants spend their summers at their second homes, the population skyrockets.

Fethiye is a well-known tourist destination in Turkey, particularly during the summer.

Between 34,000 and 38,000 British people live in Turkey. Fethiye-Ölüdeniz was named the finest tourist hub in the world by The Times and The Guardian newspapers in 2007. The Fethiye Museum, which houses a vast collection of ancient and modern objects, depicts and attests to the area’s long history of civilizations, beginning with the ancient Lycians.

The Mausoleum of Amyntas, a big and exquisite tomb erected by the Lycians in 350 BC, is also located in Fethiye. The gigantic dimensions and intricate sculptures distinguish this mausoleum.
