Golf Courses In Ho Chi Minh City
Tan Son Nhat Golf Course
One of the world’s best-known architects in designing golf courses, Nelson & Haworth Golf Course Architects constructed the Tan Son Nhat Golf Course which is a 36-hole, PGA-standard course. This golf course has been sited close to Tan Son Nhat International Airport and therefore can be said to be the first “built” golf course within Ho Chi Minh City.
This golf field is divided into four courses known as A-B-C-D, each of them having nine holes with par-36 and measuring various lengths: 3,729 yards for Course A, 3,620 yards for Course B; while Course C measures 3,747 yards and lastly there is Course D at 3,619 yards long.
The grand opening of the golf course was held in August 2015 with all amenities being in place that were meant to make it luxurious including night games. “New destination – New value” is their slogan as they pay attention not only to equipment but also try to build up well-educated human resources providing the customers with high quality service such as organization of tournaments and conducting various events.
Tan Son Nhat clubhouse ranks one among Asia’s leading clubhouses having capacity for banquets hosting up to five thousand people besides other important occasions when golfers could be present. There are several Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese restaurants available on site that serve Western cuisines at reasonable prices.
Among things found at Tan Son Nhat Night Golf are some fascinating features. Play continues until midnight thus nights go by settling wagers or replacing Saigon nightlife.
Taekwang Jeongsan Country Club
Taekwang Jeongsan Country Club is situated on an island in the middle of Saigon River. A golfer who wants to play at this Ho Chi Minh City golf course has to leave the city and cross a ferry on the main north-south road of Vietnam crossing over the Saigon River. It would take one and a half hours by car from a central hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. For those in a hurry, there is also an option of taking a private speedboat taxi up-river. Many boat taxis go down to the river from the harbor near Saigon Zoo.
The 18-hole Korean-owned golf course was designed by Golfplan – Dale & Ramsey Golf Course Architects from America. Their design for this international course follows closely upon their successful attempt at other high-end resort courses. Despite its extension of 7395 yards across its back tees, forward tees have also been incorporated so as to give players a chance to enjoy less strenuous round.
In this predominantly flat area, heavy bunkering makes many holes interesting while providing enjoyment for experienced players and making others difficult for even good players. Paspalum grassed fairways, greens, and tees result in kind lies and soft conditions.
The first nine holes run along the river and afford some excellent views on several holes right. Holes 9 and 18 are considered signature with hole 9 being a long par-4 and 18 being dogleg par-5. Both lead directly to the clubhouse so select your green carefully.’ Right between number nine (left)’s green’and number eighteen’s green (right), both wholes share bunker (right). Playing Sun Course going out or Moon Course coming back makes for an enjoyable day of golfing around Saigon
Twin Doves Golf Club
Twin Doves Golf Club is a championship golf course with 27 holes that meet international standards. Twin Doves, a parkland course located in Luna, Mare and Sole about 1.5 hours away from Saigon indeed can be divided into three nines. Paspalum grass and extensive landscaping make the saigon golf course one of the best in the city.
Luna Course seems like a view of rural Vietnam with little hills, fruit orchards and surrounding forests included. These mounding and land formations swirling around making tough hazards, while rolling hills join five holes with adjacent fairways being tree-lined.
On its part, the Mare Course is more natural with creeks and woods flanking all nine holes. Fairways are narrow which requires strategic shot-making for good scoring. Since most of them have various levels and water hazards on their approaches; players cannot afford to waste any shots here though it’s considered the most intriguing of the three layouts.
Sole Course has an island green, beach bunkers surrounding it; designed around a blue lake. The ninth hole is both beautiful to look at and difficult to play well on as an individual player or as a team member. This nine also has seven par-4s and only one par-3 and one par-5. Most people try not to come up against this routing of Sole Curse due to its uncommonness as they like avoiding this unusual path although they have numerous water hazards on this nine.
Harmonie Golf Park
Harmonie Golf Park, found in the southern Vietnam, possesses a milder climate than any other cities in the same area. The golf course is famously known as Binh Duong golf course since it lies within Binh Duong Province. Located approximately 20 minutes drive away from Thu Dau Mot city center or 1.5 hours drive from Ho Chi Minh City, that makes it a perfect place for a golf adventure. Another excellent golf course called Twin Doves Golf Club is also situated near suburban neighborhood and that’s a decent choice for those who are looking for a relaxed holiday. Alternatively, you may play both.
Jim Engh, an acclaimed American architect, designed Harmonie Golf Park. His work has been recognized globally because they have always respected environment around his creations as well. And this Vietnamese training is not different at all particularly Harmonie which is an international quality eighteen-hole par seventy two championship golf club on ninety hectares of land . For this reason there are two courses namely Dani and Lani each with nine holes . This was done by putting the Dani course on the right side of the property with some of the holes going around where people lived there . On the other hand , lani course is larger , less developed and much of its surface is covered with trees and lakes .
The challenge posed by Harmonie Golf Park comes from its large greens and fairways combined with its variety of strategically positioned bunkers that make even professional players struggle to complete it successfully. In addition to that feature, however this course has some lakes and rock walls which enhance attractiveness as well as increase level of difficulty in playing it . Another strange thing about this field concerns its use of Bermuda grass from tees to greens . There are only a few tropical zone based fields having turf like this one . The designer opted for deep blue Celebration Bermuda for tee boxes and fairways while selecting mini dwarf Tiff Eagle for greens as these are good versatile choices. Bermuda grass on the course provides a great playing surface for golfers.
Dong Nai Golf Resort
The Dong Nai Golf Resort is located 90 minutes away from the city of Ho Chi Minh. The parkland course, found on a massive tract of forest land along the shores of Cloudy River Lake, provides stunning golf course views.
In Vietnam each one of its 27 holes is unique and presents a separate challenge to players. An attractive but playable golf course where architect Northrup Ward W has been designed. The bottom of the valley, where this Bo Chang Dong Nai golf course resides, means that it has calm playing conditions all year round with little wind.
Golfers have a great opportunity to enjoy breathtaking seasonal views ranging from dry season to rainy season because of large beautiful natural lake (Ho Song May – Cloudy River Lake) near the golf course. It aims to enhance visual beauty on the golf course design itself. In 2003, Dong Nai Golf Course was named as Vietnam’s top landscape; and it will definitely find difficulty in regaining respect against other newcomers.
Firstly 18 holes were opened in 1997 followed by another nine later in 2002 by Northup Ward thereby giving a total number of twenty seven holes for this particular dong nai golf’s trunk courses.
Stretching on an area of three hundred hectares and conforming international standards are these three courses that make up the twenty seven hole golf complex known as A, B and C. Each one measures about 3500 yards long while having nine holes.
Long Thanh Golf Club
36 holes are found at The Long Thanh Golf Club, an area that in the past used to be rice swamp located near Saigon. It is a golf course in Ho Chi Minh City situated on a bluff 30 kilometers north of town which gives uninterrupted views of the Vietnamese capital.
In all seasons, two courses namely Hill and Lake are kept up properly and they continue being favorites with the long-term residents. Long Thanh Golf Club is one of many expatriates and Vietnam golf visitors who choose it as opposed to its more illustrious neighbor Vietnam Golf & Country Club.
Hill Course has large undulating greens and rolling fairways. Big oil palms frame every hole. Lake Course has numerous high-lipped bunkers as well as water hazards on almost all holes that catch stray shots. Paspalum grassed fairways and tee boxes are on both courses while the putting greens are made of Tifdwarf Bermuda grass, which can run from 8 to 10. This grass combination resembles other top courses in the region. However, Long Thanh’s rough is fairly short and does not present much difficulty.
Every single one among these thirty six holes stands out due to its unique design, providing some great challenges for both professional players as well as severe amateurs alike. Yet higher handicappers could opt for the flatter Lake Course.
Chau Duc Golf Course
Greg Norman built the Sonadezi Golf Course in Chau Duc (Sonadezi Vung Tau) near the tourist center of Vung Tau. Located among beautiful hills, valleys and mangrove forests, this is an urban industrial park covering 2,287 hectares with moderate temperatures throughout the year and mild breezes.
Generally flat ground, there are some high and low points that are spread diagonally all along from North to South of the course thereby creating natural barriers that increase challenge for every hole. It also contains trees lining up most fairways of the holes which makes play both enjoyable yet difficult. Sonadezi’s convenient flattish layout means it can be utilized for international golf tournaments.
The plans featured two 18-hole golf courses designed differently with varying difficulty levels. The Resort Course has been shaped like an oval one while its grass is Paspalum variety. Thereafter a more challenging Tournament Course is contemplated during subsequent phases of development
There’s a massive clubhouse that provides breathing space as well as overlooks on the golf course. Golfer favorites, Vietnamese cuisine specialties as well as global meals form part of what patrons can expect from restaurant located on site. Visiting golf players can get souvenirs, rent equipment or buy golf paraphernalia at pro store too; . Moreover they have modern clean locker rooms which have a relaxation area after finishing their game. There are chipping and putting greens at Sonadezi
Song Be Golf Resort
Vietnam’s Song Be Golf Resort, the initial Championship Golf Course fitting International Standards, was the first in 1994 and remains to be the oldest one within this country. It was originally designed with two primary 9-hole courses, namely the Lotus Course and Palm Course. In order to meet the increased demand from visitors to Song Be Golf Resort, Desert Course, which is considered as the most challenging among three of them, was established in 2007.
This third course brings out an overall length that goes beyond 6000 yards of a site that has a total of 27 holes par-72 thus having its own individuality and obstacle on each hole.
All across this entire course are lakes, natural shrubs and large rolling greens. Pertaining to geography, it is quite fascinating being able to go through each of these courses since they exhibit different natural features.
Firstly and most importantly though not only does lotus lake provide a stunning backdrop but also presents players with a challenge. Thus playing on lotus golf course would neither bore nor tire you since it has changing slopes, strategically placed sand traps as well as amazing lakes.
Secondly palm trees line up Palm Course with vegetation filled small fairways. If you play here you will be surrounded by tropical nature while playing some of the most beautiful holes possible.
The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Strip
The Bluffs is destined to become a top golf course due to its location, but the course shines even brighter thanks to the hand of its designer. Ho Tram Golf Course which was designed by “Great White Shark” champion Greg Norman and truly incarnates his style. He and his coworkers created a blueprint that they considered the best way to use as much of the natural state character as possible. Including streams, rock outcrops, greenery, and undulating topography have made The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip an outstanding golf course. No wonder that Golf Digest listed The Bluffs among 35 top golf courses in the world; the club deserves it.
This par-71 championship course is set on a rough sandy terrain with significant differences in elevation. The highest point on this track stands fifty meters above sea level than the lowest one. This may make the overall picture of the court more magically interesting but still beneath it attractiveness lies struggle with it. Sea breeze has been too strong for some players who had got their shots blown away by it till now. It changes from one season to another depending with prevailing wind direction at that time.As if that’s not enough, sandy soils are good for fairways, proper drainage and turf conditions.
Soon comes what could be described as the iconic hole of this course number four . It’s a par-3 hole facing all around views of holes including from sea up to Grand Hotel. The green site is on a cliff enclosed by many shrubs down along left side of this hole. Then only prudent thing is going straight direction in witsnessing this scenario. That notwithstanding, certain bunkers resembling pots were planted by its inventor at right side therefore making sure that players are challenged well in terms of angles they hit from there.
Vinpearl Golf Club Phu Quoc
The IMG-designed Vinpearl Golf Club is a 27-hole course situated on Phu Quoc Island. The course, which was built in old hardwood forests measuring 1,000 hectares and crossed streams and reservoirs, appeared flat. For this reason, Pasplum grass was used throughout the course for good playing conditions and greens of medium speed.
Phu Quoc Golf is ranked among the best golf destinations due to its natural beauty and was designed by IMG, a famous golf course design company. This course has a par value of 36/36/36 with a total length of 3725/3521/3582 yards and is named after other well-known places in Vietnam (Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Quy Nhon). Each one has thick vegetation that creates breath-taking scenery, challenging undulating greens & hazards as well as different levels of difficulty involved. Strong ocean breezes are an obstacle even for the most experienced players but also part of the island’s character.
Vinpearl Golf Club Phu Quoc is surrounded by stunning jungle scenery that paints landscapes like those found in any tropical paradise. Additionally, Paspalum grass overhanging fairways adds life to the whole layout making it appear fresh green all day long as well providing ideal golfing surfaces. There are few moments more enjoyable than playing golf at Vinpearl Phu Quoc Golf Club when you have an opportunity to see both the forest and East Sea that look amazing from afar. Moreover, its beautiful surroundings, rolling fairways and endless lines of trees curving around ponds that follow their shape make it an absolute must-play for any golfer going on vacation.
Vung Tau Paradise Golf Course
Vietnam’s first coastal course is Vung Tau Paradise Golf Course. It has a total length of 7282 yards and consists of 27-hole links-style championship golf courses. Vung Tau Paradise Golf Course was designed by Taiwan Golf Corporation and the majority of its holes run along pristine beaches that offer stunning overviews of the East Sea. With dog-legs in picturesque countryside, this is a challenging course for golfers at all skill levels, especially the long par-5s.
Paradise Golf Vung Tau contains twenty seven holes divided into three courses (A, B & C) with various shapes depending on their course style. As such, each style varies in terms of length, size or shape as well as what surrounds it. In fact, while designing the golf course, we had to recreate the ball direction from world champions and the geometry that resembled famous people.
Moreover, there is an inland course at Vung Tau Paradise Golf which offers players spectacular views of a nice ocean breeze blowing from the sea coast. Different types of flora such as lotus flowers are found around natural lakes on every course while others differ according to their colors enhancing them with charming shades. Further more rows upon rows of palm and native trees line almost all through but partially sheltering the golfers through stillness at sea level during holidays; turning each round into a beach-going day out.
West Lakes Golf & Villas
Just one hour to the west of Ho Chi Minh City, there is a 18-hole golf course at West Lakes Golf Course & Villas which covers approximately 7100 yards and sets a championship standard. The first time a Zeon Zoysia grass was used on fairways was by West Lakes Golf and Villas designed by Thomson Perrett hence making it an easy hit off. The greens are turfed with Tifeagle Bermuda grass resulting in ideal conditions for golfers of all levels. Therefore, the turf offers a fast running surface with sound roll allowing low and high handicapped golfers to make great tee shots.
Indeed, this course’s unique features include numerous breathtaking lakes not commonly found on any golf courses anywhere in the world that stand out. There are undulating waves shaped fairways as well as cleverly placed sand traps. He designs his courses around stunning lakes and rolling fairways with bunkers strategically positioned at key points. Moreover, the beautiful flowers look more peaceful against the back drop of greenery creating an overall image of Thomson Perrett’s style.
The front nine has wide fairways and landing areas while the rear nine have some more difficult holes and hazards that give challenges to players. Several layup shots from both the fairway and greenside bunkers could be necessary for good scoring at West Lakes Golf Course.
Royal Island Golf and Villas
FDI project known as Royal Island Golf and Villas (also called Mekong Golf Course) has been planned in Binh Duong Province situated about 40 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City. Taiwan’s Nan Feng International together with San Yang Golf Course in China that had more than two decades in golf course construction invested and developed the golf course. The first 18 holes of the Royal Island is part of a 54 hole golf course which is now at preparation stage for PGA tour. It has an overall length of Par 72 over an area spanning approximately around 6656 yards.
The strategic location of Royal Island golf course amidst this wondrous environment has played a significant role in attracting many golfers to the place thus making it outstanding among others. It is a quite good place for any visitor or even golfer to be able to experience why the green here is always greener since it is set far out of town by Dong Nai River. It provides high quality playing conditions combined with soul touching magnificent river views.
The distance between the city and the site is short, almost one hour driving from both ends, and therefore it makes sense for people residing within the city or neighboring districts, who can spend their weekends there enjoying themselves.
The Dalat at 1200 Golf Club
Dalat international airport is only a short drive from Golf Course at Dalat 1200 (around 15 minutes) through a pair of mountain valleys with a view of the lake. It occasionally reminds me of golf course elements in Switzerland rather than those in Central Vietnam.
The whole place is part of a complex consisting of luxury accommodation, sports amenities and an outstanding golfing course. First nine have been there for ten years but the next nine are recent to our players as they were opened just some few years ago. This stunning two nines course was designed by Peter Rousseau and Kyi Hua Han, however, Grhamme Harris has made great efforts towards the amazing improvements at Dalat 1200.
Due to its favorable circumstances, the latterly finished course had been so successful when KLPGA visited it in 2015. In fact, this track was displayed beautifully with its suitable bent grass greens and being cold due to mountains.
The first four holes at Dalat 1200 are extremely well-designed for dramatic play. Players should expect both spectacular and difficult moments right from the start. These elevated tees among rocky flowing creeks, white sand bunkers on tiered greens make the game more challenging. With such design, golfers experience different superior starting sequences in these adventures of golf games.
Sea Links Golf and Country Club
A visit to Sea Links Golf & Country Club, Vietnam’s first links golf course, will be worth your time and give you an awesome golfing experience. Located in the Mui Ne – Phan Thiet resort and tourism corridor, Sea Links Golf Mui Ne is situated at the heart of Vietnam’s stunning coastal landscape. This means one can also simply go to some local attractions in this great coastal city. It takes almost four hours from Ho Chi Minh City to move to one of the most popular coastal resorts in Vietnam.
The course was designed by Ronald Fream and Golfplan Company as an 18-hole par 72 that runs 7617 yards (from the black tee) over a dune. It spreads across a large area measuring approximately 160 hectares but still maintains most of its original terrain based on white dunes. Situated with views overlooking the ocean, Sea Links Golf provides panoramic sights across Mui Ne Bay making it perfect for golfers who want to enjoy both a round of golf and sightseeing at their best. Most of them are oriented towards the sea instead of against or parallel the coast as is often found with many other courses located among undulating sand dunes.
Sea Links Golf Course has five tees as opposed to four so it is much more difficult for players especially beginners. A standard male plays at about 6,670 yards while women usually strike from tees measuring around 5,482 yards. The course measures 7,770 yards from its back tees which is a long way off for average player performances at this level. For its unique design, Sea Links Golf has gained notoriety as one of Asia’s “Most Challenging 18-Hole Golf Courses”.
Ocean Dunes Golf Club
Located on the beautiful shores of Phan Thiet, Ocean Dunes Golf Club is a link-style golf course with sand dunes, sea breezes and an amazing view of the East Sea. Among the top ten resort courses in Asia rated by Asian Golf Monthly.
Just after opening in 1996, it became the most outstanding links course in Southeast Asia. It is 6725 yards long with 18 holes par 72. Nick Faldo who has been Masters Champion and British Open Champion designed this course such that it embodies all characteristics which make a golf course unique playable and enjoyable for golfers. Windswept sand dunes, coastal greenery and of course spectacular ocean views await you. Faldo’s route winds through existing dunes adding a character of bleakness to the track. From afar may be seen Ocean Dune Golf Corse’s soft elevation and sandy bunkers.
Water hazards are present on both front nine as well as back nine. On the other hand, there is a constant breeze from the sea which demands strategic consideration for every single shot made during games played here. However this doesn’t mean that only professional golfers can play on it; it is greatly playable by high handicappers like one with very low handicap too. The Bermuda grass fairways are extremely wide to accommodate shots that go off trajectory because of its heat endurance, drought resistance and quick recovery from visible damage caused to it while hitting balls off target besides remaining good throughout the year
SAM Tuyen Lam Golf Club
The club is only 15 kilometers away from Dalat City and just takes 20 minutes to reach the principal or back entrances of the golf club from city center and 20 minutes from airport. It was designed by a Canadian and is set in a deep valley. This is located on the eastern shores of Tuyen Lam Lake, which is surrounded by big mountains and tall pine trees that bring beautiful landscapes to it as well as creates cool conditions for playing golf all year round. However, usually there is a morning fog covering the entire place so that people cannot start playing before nine or ten o’clock in the morning.
Some holes have high tees and narrow fairways too. SAM Tuyen Lam Golf Club does not require drivers since distance matters less than accuracy here. On top of that greens are well protected with mild slopes and all Bent grass while fairways being made out of natural Bermuda grass.
Hole number three right dogleg which goes uphill. In front of its green there are massive bunker while small brook cuts across to bisect the fairway towards its right hand side. The second shot at SAM Golf Club is one of the most difficult, as most golfers go for it but end up in the stream short or OB right of the green. Take around one to two clubs extra because over this green there’s plenty on space even enough to make par.”
