SAM Tuyen Lam Golf Club

SAM Tuyen Lam Golf Club is 15 kilometers from Dalat City, and the principal or back entrances take only 20 minutes from town and 20 minutes from the airport. The Dalat golf course was designed by a Canadian and is set in a deep valley. The course is located on the eastern shores of Tuyen Lam Lake, surrounded by large mountains and tall pine trees, providing wonderful scenery and cool golf conditions all year. However, morning fog blankets the golf course, making it impossible to play until 9:00 or 10:00 a.m. on most days.

Many of the holes feature high tees and narrow fairways. Drivers can usually be left in the bag because accuracy over distance is preferred at SAM Tuyen Lam Golf Club. The greens are well-protected with mild slopes and all Bent grass, while the fairways are natural Bermuda grass.

Hole #3 is an uphill, right-turning dogleg. A massive bunker fronts the green, and a small brook bisects the fairway on the right side. The second shot at SAM Golf Club is one of the most difficult, as most golfers go for it but end up in the stream short or OB right of the green. Take 1-2 additional clubs as there is plenty of area over the green to make par.

The par-4 hole 12 is also famous. A high bunker across the fairway 200 yards from the teeing area, playing as a dogleg right and sharply uphill. To clear the threat, a monstrous drive of 240 yards or more is required; otherwise, a layup to around 180 yards is a more safer play. A vertical rock wall chiseled out of the mountain to make the hole also frames the entire right side. When you hit this side, the ball will bounce off the hill and back into the fairway. The green is double-level, with bunkers on both sides. The slope of the neighboring mountains is followed by putting. Bogey is a good score on this tough hole.

A lovely clubhouse, driving range, and practice spaces are available at SAM Tuyen Lake Golf. The onsite restaurant, pro shop, and locker facilities are adequate, as are the golf resort’s 12 guest rooms. Large opulent villas and 5-star hotels are also nearby stay-and-play choices. The service is reasonable, and it is recommended that you bring a Vietnamese interpreter to help with all of the procedures. Although SAM Tuyen Lake Golf is mountainous, it can be walked or golf carts may be rented.
