Bahrain International Airport

Bahrain International Airport (IATA: BAH, ICAO: OBBI) is Bahrain’s primary international airport. It is located on Muharraq Island, next to the capital Manama, and serves as Gulf Air’s main hub. Bahrain Airport Company is in charge of the airport’s administration. Established in 1927, it is the oldest international airport in the Persian Gulf.

You will be asked to remove your belt, shoes, and possibly your jacket, before going through security. Wear shoes that are easily removed.
Pushchairs and walking aids will be X-ray screened.
Wheelchairs will be thoroughly searched.
If you are taking prescription medications or syringes with you, each item should be in its original container and you should carry the prescriptions with you.

Car Rentals

At Bahrain International Airport, visitors can get the greatest rates on premium, economy, and family rental cars from eleven renowned companies. After baggage claim, the rental vehicle desks are conveniently placed in the Arrivals area.

Smoking Rooms

The terminal is a no-smoking zone, with smoking permitted only in strategically placed locations. On Level 00 of the Arrivals Hall, smoking spaces are located in the east and west sides of the structure. On Level 2 of the Departures Hall in the major business area, between Gates 14 and 15, and between Gates 18 and 19, there are also dedicated smoking places.

VAT Refund

At the Airport Information Counters placed at the information desks in the Departures area prior to and following check-in, visitors can collect VAT refunds on their purchases without any problem.

Nursing Rooms

Baggage Wrapping

The baggage wrapping service provided by Hala Bahrain Hospitality safeguards your belongings throughout your travel. Before check-in, we wrap, seal, and/or pack your luggage in a durable plastic film to prevent it from being opened or tampered with by accident. The baggage wrapping machines are placed directly before check-in in the Departures Area, and the cost for the service is BHD 2.

Trolleys

Free carts are available at convenient spots throughout the airport. You may locate them at the inner and outer curbsides of Departures and the baggage reclaim nest points of Arrivals.

Oversized Items

There are two specialized ‘Oversized Items’ counters for both leaving and arriving passengers. The departures desk is in the Economy check-in area, while the arrivals station is in the baggage claim area. Our helpful staff can take you to the counters for “Oversized Items.”

Available in both the Arrivals and Departures areas, dedicated e-Gates for travelers with impaired mobility allow for speedier and less labor-intensive passage through immigration checks, while maintaining the same degree of security.

Car Parks

There are designated curbside parking spaces at the entrance to the Arrivals Area and two spaces per level adjacent to the elevators in Car Park B. Prior to entering Parking Lot B, please click the phone icon on the barrier gates and inform the operator of your condition to receive special assistance. Parking spaces for passengers with limited mobility are also available at the Arrivals and Departures Areas’ inner curbside entrance.

Washrooms

Throughout Bahrain International Airport, all washrooms contain at least one cubicle for passengers with reduced mobility. To find the nearest washrooms, please follow the signs, or ask one of our friendly staff.

Whether you are traveling abroad or dropping off/collecting your loved ones, Bahrain International Airport offers a range of convenient and cost-efficient parking facilities to suit your requirements.

Long term Car Park

The Multi-Storey Car Park B is a state-of-the-art Premium car park facility that meets your needs. Located adjacent to the passenger terminal building, your car is parked minutes from the check-in or meet-and-greet area. Enjoy hassle-free payment using automated machines. Height restriction is 2.1m.

Passengers With Reduced Mobility Car Parks

Passengers with Reduced Mobility can now enjoy the first three hours for free when parking at the PRM designated car parks at Car Park B (Multi-story Car Park). Bahrain International Airport Multi-Story car park has 14 dedicated PRM parking spots available on Level 1 and 14 dedicated PRM parking spots on Level 2.

Long Term Car Park

Car Park D is an ideal car park for long-term passengers due to Car Park D’s strategic location, which is a short bus ride to the terminal. Our complimentary 24/7 shuttle bus services are equipped with luggage storage space and arrive at the shaded waiting area at Car Park D where the shuttle frequency is every 15 minutes.

Car Rental & Limousine Services

Passengers arriving in the Kingdom can find the best deals on luxury, economy, and family rental cars from leading Car Rental providers at Bahrain International Airport. They are located conveniently in the public Arrivals area on the ground floor of the terminal, opposite Gates 1 & 2.

Taxi

Bahrain International Airport is served 24/7 by three taxi operators queuing at the short & long-term parking (Car Park B) to serve the passengers. The taxi operators include Bahrain International Airport’s local Bahrain Taxi Group, Speedy Motors, and Arabian Taxi.

To reach the Taxi Stop, passengers can follow the directional signs while leaving the Baggage Reclaim area to proceed to the Short & Long-term Car Parks (Car Park B), located close to the Passenger Terminal Building opposite of Gate B.

The provided taxis at Bahrain International Airport are meter-based, as per Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, where an initial BHD 2 will be charged, and an additional BHD 2 for pickup services.

Bus

Getting to and from Bahrain International Airport by bus is quick and convenient with Bahrain Public Transport Company (BPTC). Arriving passengers can make their way to exit 4 ‎on the Arrival level, where buses are currently departing from zone 4A on the road closest to the terminal building.

10 – Airport – Arad – Hidd – Mina Salman – Kuwait Avenue – Manama Bus Terminal – Muharraq Bus Terminal – Airport (Clockwise)

11 – Airport – Muharraq Bus Terminal – Manama Bus Terminal – Kuwait Avenue – Mina Salman – Hidd – Arad – Airport (Anti-Clockwise)

To travel on the red buses, the best option is to purchase a GO Card from the driver which will cost BHD 1 (BHD 0.500 for the card itself when purchasing for the first time). Each trip costs BHD 0.275, with a maximum daily charge/cap of BHD 0.700. Alternatively, a cash single is BHD 0.300.

Bahrain Airport Hotel

While waiting for their flights, the Bahrain Airport Hotel provides a choice of hotel styles where transit passengers can relax and rejuvenate.

Each of the hotel’s 17 compact rooms, 24 standard rooms, 17 family rooms, and 1 room with facilities for Passengers with Reduced Mobility has a bed, an LED television with satellite channels, a shower, and coffee/tea making facilities. It also features 24 modern sleeping pods with an integrated TV and radio, headphones, a safe, and digital locking. In addition to the pods, guests will have access to lockers and a centrally situated bathroom/shower space.

The hotel’s entrance, located off the main concourse at Departure Gate 15, contains a nice lobby and separate spas for men and women, each of which offers a choice of massage services, treatments, and shower facilities.
