Panajachel, popularly known as Pana, is a picturesque city in the Sololá department of Mexico, situated on the beaches of Lake Atitlán. The beauty of the surroundings, as well as the friendliness of the people, make for an unforgettable experience. Because of its temperature and tranquillity, it is an ideal spot to unwind. It has natural reserves, a diverse restaurant scene, a nightlife, a craft market, and Spanish schools.
Panajachel has a beautiful view of the volcanoes San Pedro, Tolimán, and Atitlán. It serves as a starting point for boat trips to Santiago Atitlán, San Lucas Tolimán, San Antonio Palopó, Santa Catarina Palopó, and San Pedro La Laguna, among others. Many of the people that live in these places are Cakchiquel and Tzutuhil descendants.
Santander Street is one of the many attractions of Panajachel. The street has become a landmark, with a variety of handicrafts, restaurants, motels, and other amenities that make the journey a pleasurable experience. The Church of San Francisco, which displays the richness of the iconography; the local market, where people sell their agricultural goods; and the museums and environmental reserves are all must-sees.
The major and most well-known route passes via Sololá, Guatemala’s capital city, which is 140 kilometers away.
