The Tan Dinh church, also known as the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, was designed in the manner of Romanian architecture and is brilliant pink in color. The 60-meter-tall Tan Dinh Pink Church in Ho Chi Minh City was constructed in 1876. After Notre Dame Cathedral, it is now the second-largest church in Ho Chi Minh City. This church is one of the most distinctive in Vietnam because of its color and setting.

Father Donatien Eveillard founded a Catholic mission here in 1874, beginning the history of Tan Dinh Church (1835-1883). The original church, which cost 15,000 piastres (38,000 francs) to build and was dedicated in December 1876, was overseen by Eveillard. He asked the Saint-Paul de Chartres nuns to build an orphanage and boarding school next to the church in 1877, and it accommodated more than 300 children over the course of three years. Later, a publishing company was built on the grounds of the cathedral, where impoverished kids received training for the publishing firm. After passing away in 1883, he was buried in Tan Dinh Church to recognize his services to the neighborhood.
