The 60-meter-tall Tan Dinh Pink Church in Ho Chi Minh City was constructed in 1876. After Notre Dame Cathedral, it is now the second-largest church in Ho Chi Minh City. This church is one of the most distinctive in Vietnam because of its color and setting.
Father Donatien Eveillard founded a Catholic mission here in 1874, beginning the history of Tan Dinh Church (1835-1883). The original church, which cost 15,000 piastres (38,000 francs) to build and was dedicated in December 1876, was overseen by Eveillard. He asked the Saint-Paul de Chartres nuns to build an orphanage and boarding school next to the church in 1877, and it accommodated more than 300 children over the course of three years. Later, a publishing company was built on the grounds of the cathedral, where impoverished kids received training for the publishing firm. After passing away in 1883, he was buried in Tan Dinh Church to recognize his services to the neighborhood.

The main tower and the two subsidiary towers, which are joined by a maze of arched halls, split the cathedral into three portions. The interior of the church is spectacular, with two stunning rows of columns forming a pathway to the main altar.
A large Jesus statue stands in a small garden close to the church and extends his arms to welcome guests. There are further monuments in the garden that illustrate biblical events. You can access the church clinic by making your way all the way to the end of the garden.
The church’s 52.6-meter-tall tower, which can be seen from a distance, has an octagonal top with a three-meter-long copper cross, a common sight in most churches.
From the outside, tourists may view three towers, including the bell tower. There are four floors in the bell tower. On the second level, there is a huge white spherical clock with a pink frame and golden Roman numerals.
The main tower is flanked by two traditional towers, each of which has several windows and lights. In front of the towers, a magnificent passageway is created by the arched roofs.
When people enter the church, they will get a sense of being enveloped in a pleasant and elegant setting that everyone want to visit. Pink accents can be seen both inside and outside of the chapel.
Tan Dinh Church’s towers have five bells that collectively weigh about 5.5 tons, adding to its architectural prominence. You can make your way along the rows of pews to get to the main altar.
When tourists enter the pink church, the beautiful interior, glass windows, arches, pillars, sculptures, lighting, and candles give them the impression that they are in a medieval European church.
