Description

The 27-hole Long Bien Golf Course was built by Nelson & Haworth. The Hanoi golf course is situated on 350 hectares bordered by the Dong Nai River, slightly south of the city center, and is one of the closest courses. The only disadvantage of the location is the military airfield close to the golf course, whose takeoffs and landings produce some unwelcome noise.

The course’s fairways, tee boxes, and rough are Paspalum, while the greens are Tiff Eagle Bermuda grass. The meticulous maintenance of all areas creates some of the finest hitting surfaces of any Hanoi golf club.

Significant soil mounds and palm tree rows surround the majority of the holes. Several streams meander throughout the course, adding to its difficulty and scenic beauty. Although the course is only 6,700 yards from the blue tees, out-of-bounds and deep fairway bunkers on many holes make Long Bien a course where precision is rewarded more than length. In addition, the majority of raised greens from the fairway height place a premium on chipping ability to scramble and have up-and-down opportunities.

The par-5 fifth is one of the most advantageous scoring holes. A long drive between the fairway bunkers will catch the downslope and increase the likelihood of reaching the green in two shots. Be cautious of the massive bunkers in front of the slightly raised green. The par-4, dogleg-left sixth hole is one of the most difficult at Long Bien. When playing into the wind, this hole can be lengthy and uphill. To reach the green in regulation, it is essential to avoid the enormous waste bunker on the left side of the fairway with the tee shot. Par is a respectable score on this hole.

The Long Bien clubhouse is one of the most notable and well-appointed facilities in Hanoi. The locker rooms are elegant, well-lit, and equipped with full-size lockers for both members and guests. The clubhouse features a full-service spa and massage facility for players to utilize after their rounds or for non-golfers to use while their spouses are on the course. The pro shop could be better stocked, but most golfers will still find what they need. The main restaurant serves both local and international cuisines of the highest quality.

The English- and golf-savvy staff and caddies at Long Bien Golf Course make this Hanoi golf course an attractive option for foreign golfers. The fact that all caddies in Vietnam, if not all of Asia, are men should be noticed, but without significance. On the other side, it is a lovely touch to provide the caddies with rangefinders so that they can aid with distances to the nearest yard.

Footlights illuminate the course, allowing afternoon rounds to be played without concern for the setting sun. Long Bien is walkable, although green fees include golf carts. Overall, Long Bien Golf Course is a well-designed course with outstanding amenities and service, making for a pleasant day of golf in Hanoi.

This field features three courses, each with nine holes with the following yardages for each:

  • The A’s are 3,635 yards.
  • Field B is 3,448 yards.
  • Field C is 3,083 yards.
