Description

The Katara Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque of Katara, is an extremely detailed and magnificent mosque located in the Katara Cultural Village in the western portion of Qatar. Because the cultural hamlet is located to the north of Doha, many visitors and worshipers come to view this holy miracle.

Unlike other mosques across the country, the Katara Mosque is mostly blue due to the amazing glass mosaic art and hand painted ceramic tiles manufactured exclusively for Katara.

The decorations, developed by a team of restoration professionals from Istanbul, were planned by the famed Turkish mosque designer, Zainab Fadil Oglu, and the entire decorative tile project for the mosque was accomplished by MEC.

Katara Mosque is the most well-known object in Qatar, incorporating architectural styles from Turkey, Syria, Turkmenistan, and northern Persia.
