Chua Van Phat – Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas

The Chu Van Phat temple is an old Buddhist temple located in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 5. The four-story edifice, also known as the Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas, is frequently filled with incense smoke and offerings at the altar. The top floor is home to a 20-foot-tall Buddha monument with 10,000 lesser statues surrounding it.
Saigon Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda, located in an alley in Saigon China Town, is worth a visit for its distinctive architecture and thousands of various buddha sculptures on each floor, particularly the fourth floor. Vietnamese and Chinese Buddhists have flocked to Saigon Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda for more than fifty years to study Buddhist doctrine and do acts of charity.
This pagoda, which is tucked away in a secluded alley, is a beautiful but lesser-known tourist attraction. Architecture Of Chua Van Phat – Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas
The Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda is constructed on a 600-square-meter ground. The pagoda has four floors (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors) with several statues on each floor. The principal worship space is located on the fourth floor (top floor). The principal entrance is situated at the beginning of the alley. Visitors approach the pagoda’s main entrance after a 40-meter walk.
On the square pillars supporting the main entrance are Chinese characters. The two roofs of the gate are adorned with glazed green tiles, white dragon embellishments, a Dharma wheel, and a lotus flower. The black signboard displayed the Chinese name of the pagoda.
The main gate is positioned at the beginning of the 40-meter lane, while the pagoda is located at the end. In front of the houses in the alley, they have parked their motorcycles. Here, tourists may observe authentic Saigon local life: little food and drink vendors, inhabitants sitting in the alley drinking tea and coffee while conversing. The entry canopy has a gorgeous green-tiled ceiling and granite columns. The margins are embellished with glazed green tiles, golden designs, dragon, unicorn, and flower motifs. On the crimson and gold vertical panel was the Chinese name of the pagoda. The pillars’ tops are adorned with dragon embellishments.
History of Chua Van Phat – Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas
Thich Dieu Hoa monk and Tang Duc Bon monk built this pagoda in 1959. It had been a site of prayer and worship for Chinese Buddhists in Saigon and the regions of South Vietnam.
Thich Truyen Cuong monk (from Quang Dong, China) – the current master monk – rebuilt the pagoda from 1998 to June 9, 2008. Thousands of Buddha statues were made and placed throughout the pagoda.
They plan a solemn event to commemorate the conclusion of the restoration project on June 9, 2008.
