Description

This temple, which was constructed in 1902, appears modest from the outside but is actually fairly intricately detailed inside. A traditional East Asian garden with bonsai trees and altars to several deities surrounds the entryway. From the entry canopy, lanterns hang. This completes the attractive perspective of the garden, which features numerous articulate arrangements that were formed and positioned with careful consideration for every last detail. You are not prepared for what is within by how small and fragile it appears on the surface.

This temple has beautiful wooden sculptures. Taoist Gods’ words are depicted in a variety of sculpted inscriptions and pictures, along with mythical tales. Quan Cong, a legendary army general from the Eastern Han Empire of prehistoric China, is honored in the shrine. A life-size statue of Quan Cong’s horse may be seen to the left of the entryway. Ong Bon, the keeper of good fortune and happiness, has a separate shrine.

Before setting off on a journey, people frequently come here to pray for wealth or good fortune. At the main altar, there is a statue of Quan Cong. You can witness a distinctive kind of worship here that makes use of incense coils. Before lighting coils and hanging them from the ceiling, visitors frequently provide money. It paints a stunning picture of the interior of the temple. In front of the main altar, which holds Quan Cong and the partially gilded carvings encircling him, are coils of prayer and homage.

The Phuoc Hoi An Pagoda is situated in District 5 at 184 Hung Vuong, Phuong 12. It is accessible from Sunrise to Sunset every day. Find a local guide who can show you the many areas of the temple for a more in-depth view. The majority of the signage are in traditional Chinese or Vietnamese. Due to certain significant donations and the pagoda’s partial gilding, it is guarded by canines that are free to wander. Please get consent before taking photos. Before going, be aware of these things.
