Description

The Nguyen Thien Thuat apartment buildings (Vietnamese: Chung c Nguyn Thin Thin Thut) are a complex of historic American-built structures in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 3. The flats are situated on Nguyen Thien Thuat, a street renowned for its musical instrument shops.

The apartments were constructed in 1968, following the Tet Offensive, to house soldiers serving in the United States military during the Vietnam War. The apartments are near to the major market Ban Co Market on Nguyen Dinh Chieu street. The region is a famous location for culinary tours and is regarded as a refuge for street cuisine.

In 2021, the government of Ho Chi Minh City suggested removing the apartments, which it deemed “severely degraded.”
