Description

The Mong Bridge (Cau Mong in Vietnamese, “Rainbow bridge”) is a steel bridge that spans the Ben Nghe River and connects Ho Chi Minh City’s Districts 1 and 4. It is one of the city’s oldest bridges. It was constructed in 1893-1894 by the French construction business Levallois Perret (previously directed by Gustave Eiffel) for the merchant shipping company Messageries maritimes under the name Pont des Messageries maritimes. The bridge was entirely demolished in 2005 during the construction of the Saigon River Tunnel and afterwards reconstructed as a pedestrian bridge. In addition, the statue of An Duong Vuong clutching a magical crossbow was taken down.

The Cau Mong Bridge is 128 meters long, 5.2 meters wide, and the sidewalk is 0.5 meters wide. Steel is used in the construction of Cau Mong, which was inspired by 19th-century Western bridges. As stated previously, the bridge is painted emerald green, which makes it noticeable. It resembles an emerald green jewel surrounded by modern concrete and glass structures.

The Vietnamese refer to this gorgeous bridge as both Rainbow Bridge and Love Bridge. There are several locks bearing the names of couples. This charming bridge and Ben Nghe Channel have become a popular location for taking beautiful photographs. Beautiful Vietnamese women and couples frequently pose for photographs here. It is one of the best locations in Ho Chi Minh City for wedding photography. Non-Vietnamese as well as non-Vietnamese are drawn to the steel bridge, which has been known as a historical landmark for decades, and enjoy taking photographs with it.

The Cau Mong Bridge is one of the structures in Ho Chi Minh City that has endured for centuries and has historical, cultural, and architectural significance (Saigon).
