A paradise for book lovers, Nguyen Van Binh or Book Street is a 100m stretch of book shops, kiosks, stalls and cafes that are perfect for a literary getaway. Shady trees line the street where many publishing houses seek to promote their books. Fiction, Non-Fiction, Children’s literature – all genres can be found here. Some of the shops even sell postcards and second-hand books at throwaway prices.

Opened from 1st September 2016, Nguyen Van Binh Book Street has been not only a favorite place to buy good books but also to walk, take photographs, gather, sip some coffee and relax. The 100-meter-long book street stretches from Hai Ba Trung Street to Notre Dame Cathedral, it is located right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The book street attracts most of the people in Saigon (the former name of Ho Chi Minh City), especially the youth and families with kids. The street is the most crowded at weekends and at night when locals do not go to work and would like to spend their time in a great way.

Nguyen Van Binh Book Street features stalls of famous bookstore chains, book cafes, magazine and newspapers area, playing area, old book area, area for book, painting, photography and magazine exhibition, stalls selling artworks including pottery items, handicrafts, postcards, 3D popup cards. All of the things in the street create a link between book lovers and art lovers, bookstore chains and readers. It is considered as a literary gateway in the city.

Nguyen Van Binh Book Street is the paradise of book lovers of all ages. There are more than 20 book shops (bookstores), each of which belongs to a publisher or bookstore. At the book shops, many people comfortably choose their favorite books from thousands of books on different topics, by different authors. Old book shops sell many rare old books which are valuable to some people. Most of the book lovers can find the appropriate in the book street. Most of the shops and the areas are decorated beautifully and spectacularly with lanterns, flowers, plants, lights, statues, etc. The street has become one of the best places to take photographs in Saigon.

Many teenagers usually gather in the book street, after walking around for the books and other nice items, they choose to relax at nice coffee shops where they can enjoy the drinks, take a rest, and leisurely chat about everything in the world. It is totally different to sit at tea/coffee shops, surrounded by books to enjoy coffee, tea, soft drinks, juice, or bubble tea. The atmosphere is warm, relaxing, and comfortable. The smell of coffee spreads in the air, blends with the smell of new books can win the hearts of any person.

Nguyen Van Binh Street is always cool during the day and at night thanks to two lines of green old tree with big shades. In addition, they place lots of pots of plants in the streets, in front of the bookstores and hung the pots of plants on the canopies and ceilings. Nguyen Van Binh is known as one of the greenest streets in the city where more and more buildings grow up.

A blue miniature of the blue bus is placed in the middle of the street. It is considered an interesting small library or a bus for transferring knowledge. In the bus there are lots of great books and readers can read these free books from 8:30 to 12:00, from 15:30 to 19:00. The bus stop with shelters is for visitors to have a seat, talk, relax in a pleasant atmosphere or enjoy clean air in the book street.

A small playground for kids is designed to have lots of road symbol signs, a tunnel, traffic lights and many others so that children learn more about transportation while playing. The transparent multicolorful roof makes the playground impressed and attracts children.

Nguyen Van Binh Book Street is usually more crowded at night. The stores and coffee shops become splendid thanks to colorful lights.
