Description

Al Karaana Lagoon was an ancient dump site for industrial wastewater, but it has since been treated and transformed into a beautiful oasis.

The name of the lagoon is derived from the Arabic word karaa, which signifies “rainwater” or “freshwater.” Al Karaana was named for a nearby spring that produced remarkably pure water.

It is an excellent location for seeing a variety of birds, fish, and plants, as well as for photography. In contrast to most hidden jewels west of Doha, which require a 4×4 to access, Al Karaana can be accessed by car, although with some off-roading.
