Pirates of the Caribbean – Mini Waterpark in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria

Plan a family visit to Hotel Kotva’s mini waterpark in south Sunny Beach, with 22 slides, seasonal hours, 2026 entry guidance and practical tradeoffs.

Pirates of the Caribbean – Mini Waterpark is a compact family water attraction inside the Hotel Kotva complex in the southern part of Sunny Beach, close to the road toward Nessebar. Fresh research places the attraction physically in Sunny Beach rather than in Old or central Nessebar, so it is more accurate to plan it as a Sunny Beach activity even though many travel sites list it under Nessebar because the municipal boundary and resort area meet nearby. The mini waterpark is designed primarily for families with children who want slides and pools without committing to a much larger standalone aquapark. Its biggest limitation is exactly that scale: older children and thrill-seeking adults may find the choice modest compared with Aqua Paradise or the major parks farther along the coast.

Hotel Kotva’s current official site describes a mini aquapark with three pools and 22 water slides, alongside a separate 25-by-12.5-metre pool. The hotel also lists a main restaurant, the Black Pearl bistro, bars, fitness and massage services. These facilities make the attraction feel more like a resort pool complex with a substantial slide zone than an independent theme park. Families staying at Kotva can use the water facilities as part of the hotel experience; outside visitors should verify the current day-entry arrangement before traveling because hotel and public-access policies can change by season.

The pirate theme is most visible in the child-oriented areas. Current destination information describes a pirate ship, several slides, water features and pools aimed especially at younger children. That makes the park useful for families whose children are not yet looking for extreme rides. It can fill a half-day comfortably and, for children who like repeating the same slides and playing in pools, potentially longer. Adults coming mainly for high-speed slides should compare it with the much larger Aquapark Nessebar before choosing.

A 2026 destination guide lists the public season as June through September, daily from 10:00 to 19:00, and quotes a day price of 50 BGN for guests over 90 cm with children under 90 cm admitted free. Those are volatile commercial details rather than permanent facts, so check the price and height rules again shortly before visiting. Hotel packages may include access for registered guests even when outside visitors pay separately. Do not rely on older posts that show much lower prices or different child categories, because the attraction has expanded and tariffs have changed over time.

Location is one of the park’s strengths. Hotel Kotva states that it is in southern Sunny Beach, about 1.5 km from the ancient town of Nessebar and about 250 metres from the beach. That makes the waterpark practical for families staying at the southern end of Sunny Beach or around the Nessebar–Sunny Beach corridor. A current destination guide also reports a nearby local bus stop and tourist-train service, but exact fares and service frequency can change, so use those only as planning clues and confirm transport locally on the day.

Allow at least three hours if children want time to repeat slides, swim and take breaks. A full day makes more sense when the waterpark is part of your hotel stay or when younger children are happy with a slower pool-based routine. Bring normal pool essentials and plan for sun exposure; the attraction is outdoors and operates in the summer season. Food and drinks are available within the Hotel Kotva complex, but package inclusions differ between hotel guests and day visitors, so do not assume that an aquapark ticket includes meals or bar service.

Safety should be treated like any waterpark visit. Follow posted height, age and ride instructions, supervise children closely and use lifeguard directions rather than copying what other guests do. Current sources do not provide a complete accessibility specification for every pool and slide, so visitors with mobility needs should contact Hotel Kotva before arrival. The same applies to medical requirements, adapted changing facilities or whether a companion can assist at specific rides. A general hotel amenity list is not enough to confirm barrier-free water access.

The attraction’s identity has shifted slightly as Hotel Kotva has expanded its pool complex. The official site now emphasizes the hotel’s own “Mini Aqua park” and 22 slides, while travel platforms still use the older Pirates of the Caribbean name. These references point to the same Kotva waterpark complex, but visitors should search for Hotel Kotva when navigating. That also prevents confusion with Aqua Paradise, the much larger waterpark near Nessebar that is a separate business with different tickets and facilities.

For travelers staying in Old Nessebar, the mini waterpark is best thought of as a family excursion rather than an Old Town attraction. Pairing it with medieval churches on the same tight schedule usually makes little sense: water activities need changing time, sun protection and a relaxed pace, while Old Nessebar rewards walking and museum stops. If you want both in one day, a more practical split is waterpark first and a later evening walk in the historic quarter, when the hottest part of the day has passed.

Pirates of the Caribbean – Mini Waterpark is therefore most attractive when convenience matters more than maximum ride count. Families based in southern Sunny Beach get a waterpark close to their accommodation and the beach, with enough variety for younger children and a resort setting around it. Confirm the current public-entry rules, seasonal dates and price before setting out, navigate to Hotel Kotva rather than central Nessebar, and choose the larger parks instead if your group’s priority is a long list of high-adrenaline slides.
