Pic de Coll Pa is a 2,289-metre summit on the Serra d’Enclar ridge between Pic d’Enclar and Pic de Carroi. It is a modest high point in a much larger mountain line, with views along the crest and down towards the central Andorran valleys. The peak is best understood as part of a demanding ridge traverse from the Sispony/Cortals area, not as a quick walk from the capital. Official topographic material maps Pic de Coll Pa on the ridge, while local route information describes the exposed and technical terrain connecting the neighbouring peaks. Hikers should choose a full route that explicitly includes the crest and have the experience, navigation and weather window for exposed mountain ground.
The name refers to the summit itself; Collada de Muntaner, farther west, is a distinct pass and route junction. Pic d’Enclar, Bony de la Pica and Pic de Carroi are other separate summits along or near the same ridge system. That distinction matters when reading route maps: a track to Collada de Muntaner does not automatically reach Pic de Coll Pa, and a visit to Pic d’Enclar does not mean the ridge to Carroi is straightforward. The peaks are close enough to appear as one continuous skyline from the valley, but the terrain between them has narrow, rocky and exposed sections that can require careful movement and a confident sense of direction.
The most clearly mapped access to the high ridge begins above Sispony. The official VisitAndorra route starts by Casa Rull and climbs along the Cortals de Sispony road, passing the Bordes dels Fenerols and the Cortals refuge before crossing the Muntaner stream. A marked path then rises through pine forest to Collada de Muntaner and continues northward to Pic d’Enclar. That route description is a useful way into the mountain system, but its written itinerary ends at Pic d’Enclar; it should not be extended over Pic de Coll Pa unless the current route track and conditions support the ridge continuation. The pass is an access point, not a promise of an easy traverse.
For a full circuit that joins Pic d’Enclar with Pic de Carroi, Visit La Massana describes a route from Cortals de Sispony via Collada de Muntaner, along the ridge and across several peaks. It is classified as difficult, covers about 14.7 kilometres and gains roughly 1,751 metres. The route description warns of somewhat complex ridge sections, exposed ground and a technical return path; it also states that there are no water sources along the route. Pic de Coll Pa is shown on official topographic mapping within this ridge system, but local route pages do not provide a separate, independently measured out-and-back itinerary to this summit. Use a current GPX covering the intended crest rather than assuming every marked approach passes over the top.
The summit is open mountain terrain with no staffed service, ticket point, shelter or maintained visitor installation identified at the top. At roughly 2,289 metres, weather changes quickly compared with the towns below. Wind, cloud and wet rock can turn an exposed ridge into a hazardous place, while snow and ice may cover the path outside the warmest part of the year. Plan the day around daylight and the slowest person in the group, check the mountain forecast and carry enough food, water and insulation for the whole outing. A refuge on the approach should not be treated as stocked or staffed without checking its current status.
Navigation and footwear matter more than the summit’s modest prominence might suggest. The path from Collada de Muntaner climbs through forest, then emerges onto more open ground where the route and ridge shape become more consequential. On the crest, stay on the established line, keep distance from exposed edges and do not attempt to shortcut steep slopes between peaks. If the ridge is wet, snowy, windy or obscured, turning back is a sound decision. The fact that local route descriptions call some sections “technical” is a material caution, not a minor detail for experienced walkers only.
The landscape is rewarding for hikers who are comfortable with high ground. From the ridge, the view alternates between Andorra’s central settlement corridor and more rugged slopes towards the Catalan border. Pic de Carroi, identifiable by its communication installations, marks the eastern end of a demanding traverse; Pic d’Enclar and Bony de la Pica frame the higher western side. This wider context makes Pic de Coll Pa a useful waypoint for understanding the shape of the range, even though the summit itself has no separate facilities or interpretation panel. The experience comes from the route and the changing views rather than from infrastructure at the top.
Before starting, compare the length and gain of the chosen itinerary with your group’s recent mountain experience. The 14.7-kilometre Pic d’Enclar–Pic de Carroi circuit is a full-day outing, and its elevation gain makes it unsuitable as an add-on after a shorter valley visit. A lower-level alternative is to walk only to Collada de Muntaner or choose a marked valley route, provided the current map gives a safe turnaround point. Visitors staying in Sispony can use Casa Rull and the village as practical orientation landmarks, but the museum’s opening hours do not govern access to the mountain. Pic de Coll Pa is most appropriate for prepared hikers who deliberately choose the ridge, not for visitors relying on the name of a nearby pass as their route plan.
