Parc de la Serradora is a public green and recreation space in Santa Coloma, within the parish of Andorra la Vella. It combines a skatepark, landscaped areas, rest places and a short interpretive route built around the site’s former sawmill. The park is not simply an outdoor sports facility: its setting preserves a visible connection to one of the last industrial sawmills in Andorra. Families can use the softer landscaped paths and seating, while skateboarders have a dedicated concrete area with ramps, ledges and rails. It is a compact, local-feeling stop where a short visit can mix movement, a pause outdoors and a small dose of industrial history.

The site’s name refers to the Serradora del Cintet, the sawmill associated with the Rossell family. The sawmill was established in 1936 in Escaldes-Engordany and later moved beside the Rec de l’Aigüeta in Andorra la Vella. In 1962, as the lower end of Avinguda Meritxell was urbanised, it relocated to Prat Salit in Santa Coloma. It continued operating until 2000, when it was dismantled after falling out of use. The Comú explains that the sawmill processed mainly black pine and Scots pine into beams and boards, and cut wood into smaller forms for uses such as firewood, fruit boxes and pallets. The park’s interpretation helps visitors understand the shift from local timber industry to today’s built-up parish.

Restored machinery gives the heritage element a physical focus. The municipal tourism description identifies two restored machines that once operated at the sawmill, incorporated into an interpretive route. The route is modest rather than a full museum visit: visitors can read the landscape and the surviving equipment while walking through an everyday neighbourhood park. It works especially well for families or travellers who want a short cultural stop outdoors, rather than a long indoor exhibition. There is no indication of a staffed visitor centre or scheduled tour, so approach it as a self-guided public space and allow time to look at the machinery and signs.

The skate facility is a major part of the park’s identity. The Comú describes an area of about 700 square metres, with different riding lines, rails, varied heights and a downhill box feature that it calls unique in the country. The skatepark was developed with input from the Skateboard and Snowboard Association of Encamp-Andorra. A specialist skate-spot listing describes a street and transition layout with quarter pipes, banks, ledges, curbs and a funbox. This makes it suitable for practising a range of skills, but riders should inspect the surface and obstacles before starting and choose lines that match their experience. It is an outdoor shared environment, so younger children and pedestrians should keep clear of active runs.

Beyond the concrete, the municipal description lists green areas, rest areas and rubber-surfaced paths intended for strolling. The layout gives non-skaters somewhere to sit or walk while friends ride, and creates a calmer setting than a dedicated competition venue. A pump-track/bicycle circuit was part of the original park concept and local reporting described cycling as one of the planned activities; current municipal pages foreground the skatepark, green spaces and interpretive route. Because the exact present condition of every original feature is not established in current official descriptions, visitors should check on site rather than assume a separate bike circuit remains available in its original form.

The park is at Carrer Prat Salit 7 in Santa Coloma and connects with the riverside walking route, according to municipal materials. It is near the Escola Andorrana area and can be combined with a stroll through Santa Coloma or a visit to other parish parks. The broader tourist site lists the Parc de la Serradora among family-friendly play and recreation spaces in Santa Coloma. The skatepark is described by a specialist directory as free, ungated and publicly accessible around the clock; the municipality does not publish a separate daily timetable on its sports page. Treat the area as an open public park, but be considerate of nearby residents and remember that security patrols and local rules may affect use at particular times.

There is no admission ticket or booking process described for ordinary park use. Wear shoes appropriate for the concrete surfaces if skating, and bring protective equipment suited to your ability. The park’s lighting is described by a specialist skate listing, but conditions and operating equipment can change, so do not plan a late session solely on that basis. Families should supervise children near the skate lines and machinery. The soft-surfaced pathways and rest areas make a walk possible even for visitors not interested in skating, although the precise accessibility of each feature should be checked on arrival.

Parc de la Serradora is a rewarding short stop for visitors who want to see a different side of Andorra la Vella beyond the shopping streets. Its strongest feature is the contrast between contemporary skate culture and the preserved story of timber work at the Cintet sawmill. Skateboarders have a purpose-built outdoor facility; families can use the green areas and interpretive path; and walkers can connect the park with riverside routes. It is not a large destination requiring a half-day itinerary, but its mix of recreation and local history makes it more distinctive than a simple playground. Visit at a time that suits the weather, leave active riding lines clear and take a few minutes to read the sawmill story as you pass the restored machines.
