Description

Officially known as Cong Truong Quoc Te, Turtle Lake in Ho Chi Minh City (or Ho Con Rua) is a roundabout connecting Vo Van Tan, Pham Nguyen Thach, and Tran Cao Van Street in District 1. Turtle Lake is not a natural lake, but a tiny pond with fishes, fountains, several monuments and a tower imitating a lotus.

The lake was designed by the great architect Nguyen Ky. The Turtle Lake circle ‘s diameter is roughly 100 meters. This is one of the most picturesque spots in Saigon. The tall tower resembles a large sword or a lotus blossom growing from the city. This tower was supported by five columns and measures 34 meters in height. In addition, there is an octagonal fountain, a rectangular monument, and four spiral walks leading from the lake’s perimeter to its center. On the rear of a metal turtle monument was a stone bearing a list of countries that backed the Republic of Vietnam. In 1978, a gang planted bombs to kill the turtle, but the lake is still called Turtle Lake. The lake has remained mostly unchanged over time and has served as a witness to history.

Turtle Lake is renowned as one of the greenest areas in Ho Chi Minh City, where skyscrapers are increasingly constructed. The region surrounding the lake is dense with mature, verdant trees, resulting in clean air at the lake. The lake is green and lovely due to the presence of old trees, green grass and plants around the lake, lotuses in the lake, and flowers in the oval tower.

Turtle Lake Saigon is a popular spot for local and foreign travelers to congregate, converse, and observe the surrounding streets, as the lake is surrounded by verdant trees and the air is exceptionally cold. You can also ascend the stairs to sit and watch the lively and vibrant street scene while enjoying the cool breeze.

There are a few food shops surrounding Turtle Lake in Saigon, where you can purchase a cup of iced tea, some sour and spicy mango pickles, and a box of fragrant yellow rice paper, then spend the entire day chatting with your friends.

If you enjoy taking photographs, this location is ideal. No matter if you are students, young couples, or tourists, this location will provide you with life’s greatest experiences.

Evening at Saigon Turtle Lake, you will undoubtedly appreciate the lively and packed scene: old people sitting and conversing while enjoying the breeze, young people conversing, singing, and dancing, and youngsters running, leaping, and playing. All create an odd sense of serenity and contentment.

A few hundred meters away from the well-known Notre Dame Cathedral and Saigon Central Post Office, Turtle Lake has become one of the city’s most popular tourist destinations due to its hidden history, gorgeous scenery, tranquil atmosphere, and delicious cuisine.
