Description

Phung Hung Mural Street in Hanoi’s Old Quarter has been revitalized with murals depicting the city’s history. Since its opening to the public in early February 2018, it has become a popular photo location and cultural area for Hanoi residents and visitors.

Vietnamese and South Korean artists collaborated in a community art exchange initiative by painting murals reflecting the old space of Hanoi along the 200-meter stretch of Phung Hung street.

Hang Ma street during the Mid-Autumn festival, the Trang Tien Department Store, a street corner in the Old Quarter with street vendors, and a schoolgirl on her way to school are depicted in the paintings, which portray Hanoian memories and old landmarks. For the first time, contemporary art is shown on the street. A contemporary art that includes not only drawings but also photographs, three-dimensional paintings, carvings, and interactive games.

The Phung Hung mural street is more than a location to visit and take pictures. It is also a recreation area with painting classes and traditional sports, and it helps to preserve and promote Hanoi’s cultural legacy and enables locals and tourists to learn more about Hanoi’s culture.

The Phung Hung mural street adds to the splendor of the city, bringing with it a touch of nostalgia and a fervent appeal to Hanoi’s tourists. The ancient Hoan Kiem District is home to some of Hanoi’s most enjoyable activities. It is loaded with countless restaurants and a picturesque old town, as well as Phung Hung Mural Street, which features some of Vietnam’s finest contemporary art.

The Phung Hung Mural Street is located in the center of the Hoan Kiem District, few minutes from the area’s other well-known attractions. One of the fascinating aspects of Hanoi’s mural street is that the artwork is painted on the 120-year-old Long Bien Bridge’s foundation. Each arch on this stretch of railroad lines features a mural depicting a scene from Hanoi’s past.
