Le Thi Rieng Cultural Park
Description
Le Thi Rieng Park, commonly known as White Rabbit Park or White Rabbit Entertainment Park, is a large park in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 10, Vietnam. This location was a cemetery before to 1975. Because she was buried here, the park is named after Le Thi Rieng, a soldier of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
During the Republic of Vietnam (1954–75), this location had a 30-hectare cemetery known as Chi Hoa Cemetery (formerly known as Do Thanh cemetery). Chi Hoa Prison is close, while Phu Tho National Technical Center is a little further away.
Following the massive loss of life during the Tet Offensive in 1968, the Sai Gon administration excavated several trenches in the cemetery to bury the tens of thousands of victims. As a result of this tragedy, superstitious rumors have surfaced. The Saigon Long Hoa Buddhist Association then constructed temples and a statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva at the graveyard. The statue is 0.75 m wide, 3 m tall, and fashioned of black Italian stone weighing over 10 tons. Mai Lan, a well-known sculptor, created this statue.
In an effort to modernize the city’s appearance, the local authorities removed Chi Hoa Cemetery in 1983 to make way for a park. The Ksitigarbha statue was unloaded and transported to the Guan Yin monastery in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province, on August 23, 1986.
The park’s rich foliage covers 80% of its surface area, creating a relaxing ambiance. Le Thi Rieng Park encompasses an area of 8 hectares. While most parks have even and flat topography, Le Thi Rieng Park is unique in that it includes several little rolling hills.
The park is vast and has a fresh ambiance, making it a great spot for everyone to undertake morning or afternoon workouts. At any time of day, you may observe people of all ages come here to go walking, play sports, and so on.
If you have children, the park is also a good choice due of its amusement and entertainment areas. Your children may use the see-saw, swing, slide, merry-go-round, and other equipment.
This site is wonderfully and vibrantly adorned during major events like as Tet, Halloween, and Mid-Autumn Festival. As a result, this is an ideal location for snapping photographs with your pals.
There is a huge pond in the park with several beverage and food shops around it, so you can go fishing or buy your favorite meals while lounging in the chairs and enjoying the ambience.
Despite the fact that there are other parks in Ho Chi Minh City, Le Thi Rieng remains the most popular. In such a vibrant city as Ho Chi Minh, Le Thi Rieng Park is an excellent spot for you and your family to unwind and share unforgettable memories.
