Description

Dong Ngac village, located approximately 10 kilometers from the center of Hanoi, will provide you with a tranquil and quiet atmosphere, in contrast to the bustling capital city. For tourists in general and international ones in particular, they have been attracted by a number of prominent scholars in Dong Ngac, coupled with its intact architecture and typical rural ambiance as the hamlet has still treasured numerous relic sites of hundreds of years ago.

Dong Ngac is renowned for its well-preserved relics of its history, historical and cultural significance: common house, numerous centuries-old dwellings, and ancestor worshipping houses. The town is famed for its large-scale communal house, built in 1653 to worship three genies, including Thien Than, Dia Than and Nhan Than. This is the solemn place in the village where important events are held and where an extensive collection of ancient relics dating back hundreds of years is on display, including a set of ancient paintings from the Le Dynasty (1427 – 1788) depicting bumper harvests and the peaceful, prosperous life of the people, eight paintings praising the vocations of fishery, forestry, fabric weaving, husbandry, teaching, farming, and handicraft, and twenty doctoral steles of the

In addition, guests can explore Do The Giai’s ancestral home, which was constructed to honor a prominent official during the Le-Trinh era. The majority of ancestral homes are adorned with parallel Chinese characters, indicating that village elders are constantly reminding the younger generation of the need of education. There are numerous engravings on the old village gates.

The ancient village of Dong Ngac is one of few communities which have still retained intact the cultural elements and old historical architecture despite the pace of development. Traditional and cultural values are still reflected in the old bricks on the village’s tiny walkways and in the pagoda’s stones.
There is no greater joy than entering a completely different area that is quiet, peaceful, and charming, escaping the rush and bustle of the city, and learning about the Vietnamese culture.
