Description

30/4 Park (Thirty April Park) is a park located in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, opposite the Independence Palace and behind Notre-Dame de Saigon.

The park consists of four rectangular pieces of land split into private by Le Duan and Pasteur streets, with a total area of 3.5 hectares, 2.5 of which are greenery. The streets of Han Thuyen, Alexandre de Rhodes, Pham Ngoc Thach, and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia surround the park on all sides. Han Thuyen and Alexandre de Rhodes streets were named in honor of two persons who were significant in creating and expanding Nôm and National language in Vietnam. According to the Ho Chi Minh City urban railway network plan, the 30/4 park will connect to line 4 Thanh Xuan – Hiep Phuoc urban area at Nam Ky Khoi Nghia station.

Without tables and chairs or stores, the corner of 30/4 Park near Notre Dame Cathedral is where many people lay out newspapers to relax and sip coffee in plastic cups from street sellers. This interest is known as “flat coffee,” and it has been widely publicized and promoted by the media.
