How To Travel Around Da Nang
Get Around - By Taxi
Taxi costs in Da Nang are fairly reasonable, and scams are less widespread than in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, but you’re better off traveling with a reputed business to avoid any problems. Mai Linh (mostly green with white lettering, but occasionally green or silver) +84 511 356 5656 (or 0511 356 5656 if dialing from a local phone) and Vinasun (white with green and red lettering) +84 511 368 6868 have large fleets in the city and are generally honest and reliable, with meters that start automatically after the taxis move about 5m. Mai Linh cab wardens wear green shirts with green ties, while Vinasun wardens wear dark green shirts with maroon ties. These wardens can radio taxis for you. Some visitors have stated that Song Han’s yellow taxis are likewise fairly dependable.
According to traveler surveys, the normal rate for visiting Hoi An is USD 10. You can try negotiating a USD10 rate with a taxi driver at the railway station (200,000 dong).
Get Around - By bus
Da Nang has little bus service within the city, but it does have a very reliable (albeit not particularly pleasant) intercity bus to Hoi An.
If you want to take the bus from the train station, you can exit the station and walk to the next major street (Le Duan St, in front of #287, less than a 5-minute walk). The bus travels eastward, to the left). You should be able to notice bus stop for a yellow coloured Bus 1, Da Nang – Hoi An on the opposite side of the road. The wording is a little different, but the wording is the same. You may have to insist on that fare as the conductor will undoubtedly try to charge extra (for luggage or because you are a foreigner). This bus also goes past Marble Mountain (Vietnamese: Non Nc or Ng Hà nh Sn). Bus 4 (destination Tam Ky) departs from the same site as Le Duan Bus 287 and travels to Hoi An, but stops in a more central area.
It is important to note that taxi drivers may park in front of the bus stop and inform you that the bus is not running. This is not true; they are only interested in your business.
Get Around - By motorbike
Most hotels and rental firms in Da Nang charge between 80,000 and 150,000 dong per day to rent a motorbike to travel to Hoi An. Locals pay between 50,000 and 100,000 dong. You might bring down the price by bargaining and renting for a number of days.
The drive to Hoi An is approximately 28 kilometers long and takes 45-60 minutes. The trip is quite basic and straightforward, taking you around Da Nang’s coastline, providing you with an excellent experience and vistas along the beaches to Hoi An. There is little traffic. Bring a windbreaker or sweater because the temperature along the seaside can get a little chilly in the autumn and spring. Avoid biking in the winter because the wind is strong and rain is common.
