Activities & Things to do in Da Nang

  • Cham Island Tour,  +84 510 8505605. Pick up at hotel at 07:00, transfer to Cua Dai beach harbour by an air-con bus. Cruises to the Cham Islands depart at 08:00, taking 1 1/4 hours by wooden boat or 30 minutes by speed boat. On arrival, there are visits to the Hai Tang Pagoda, the boat shelter, and a local market at Bai Lang, followed by a trip to Bai Chong for swimming and snorkeling to view the coral reef before lunch at an island restaurant. After lunch, unwind and prepare for the return voyage to Cua Dai Beach harbor. At 15:00, you will be transferred back to your hotels. The cost of a wooden boat is US$27, while a speedboat is US$89.
  • Motorbike ride up Monkey Mountain (Son Tra Mountain) (Follow Hoang Sa Rd. towards the mountain). Rent a motorcycle and make your way up the side of Monkey Mountain (also known as Son Tra Mountain), where an American military base formerly stood, for a ride with a breathtaking perspective. Even if access to the base is restricted, you may still follow Hoang Sa Rd. for a considerable distance and get lost in the breathtaking beauty on this route that hugs the mountainside and offers a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Along the route, you can also stop at Linh Ung Temple to pay your respects to Quan The Am and take in the breathtaking panorama.
  • My Khe Beach (China Beach), Hoang Sa Rd. My Khe Beach, located north of the famed “China Beach” and across the Han River from the city center, is a broad, sandy beach renowned for its beauty for many years. Locals frequently congregate here as early as 05:00 in the morning to surf as the sun rises over the water. Tourists typically arrive later in the day, when locals have already begun their day; by 9:00 or 10:00 a.m., the beach is likely to be mostly deserted. The beach is not steep, so you can swim far out and yet feel the bottom with your feet. During busier periods, lifeguards float in coracle boats and whistle at people who wander too far out. Monkey Mountain provides a distant view of the colossal statue of “Quan The Am” at Linh Ung Temple. There are change rooms and public showers available as you enter and exit the water, as well as a fee-based motorcycle parking area.
  • Ride a motorbike up the Hai Van Pass (Hai Van Pass) (Follow the coast road N until you reach Rd 1A). The Hai Van Pass makes for an excellent day trip from Da Nang (or Hoi An). The route was described as “a deserted ribbon of beauty” and “one of the best seaside roads” on the BBC program Top Gear. Since the tunnel opened, the majority of heavy traffic has been redirected away from the pass, making the journey considerably safer. You will only encounter a few trucks transporting animals or risky items, as well as a large number of motorcyclists going to enjoy the scenery. Be sure to ride down the north side of the pass all the way to Lang Co and take in the view of the lagoon set against a mountainous backdrop. Fill up your tank before reaching the pass (there is a gas station a few kilometers before the route begins to climb), as there is no gas there.
  • Salem Spa Garden (Salem Spa branch 2), 528, 2/9 Str, Hai Chau Dist, +84 511 363 8888. 9h – 22h30. The building area of Salem Spa Garden is 1000 square meters, with 45 spa-designed beds and an ecological space with various room types. USD 15-30.

Golf

BRG Da Nang Golf Resort

Truong Sa Street, Hoa Hai ward, Ngu Hanh Son, Danang City, Vietnam

BRG Da Nang Golf Resort is located on the nascent central coast of Vietnam with 350 hectares of territory (200 hectares Nicklaus course and 150 hectares Norman course) with terrain resembling that of the earliest golf courses in the world. It is the first golf course in Danang to incorporate the designs of two of the industry’s leading architects: Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman.

Greg Norman, Australian golf great and former world No. 1, built the BRG Da Nang Golf Course’s 18-hole, links-style layout in the genuine spirit of the game, with blown-out bunkers, firm and fast fairways that bleed softly into wild beachside vegetation, rough waste areas, swales and hollows.

Nicklaus Course has a wide fairway, the first and only authentic North American hardwood bulkhead, and is one of the longest courses with 7,380 yards, 18-hole, and Par 73. It is situated along the banks of the Coco River.

Bana Hills Golf Club

Hoa Ninh Ward, Hoa Vang District, Danang

The Ba Na Hills Golf Club located 25 minutes inland from Danang, Vietnam, at the base of the Bana Hills cable car station. IMG manages the Da Nang golf course, which is the first course designed by Luke Donald not just in Asia, but in the entire world. Ba Na Hills is arranged in a number of valleys within the surrounding mountain ranges. The mountainous terrain of the Ba Na Hills contains a variety of natural topography and plants. The holes situated at a greater altitude feature excellent viewing locations with breathtaking views of the valleys below.

Numerous natural features, including giant hardwood trees and streams that meander through several of the holes, are present on the site. The 7,858-yard, par-72 golf course provides golfers of all skill levels with an optimal blend of difficulty and enjoyment. The various lengths of each course and the different lays arising from the undulating hills and changes in elevation ensure that the 18 holes are played with a wide range of shots.

The opening nine holes are situated on a typical parkland course surrounded by pine forests. Numerous blind shots and doglegs characterize the back nine, which follows and ascends the surrounding hills. Obviously, these holes are the most challenging and dramatic.

Each hazard in Ba Na Hills is surrounded by lush grass, making the bunkering there distinctive. This makes the sand partially visible from the tees and approach shots from the fairway.

The greens are set at an angle from the fairways and have minimal undulations. This permits a wide range of pin placements and approach shots. The 4th and 5th are two of the most memorable holes. Both holes are par-5, but only No. 4 is reachable in two shots. The par-5 fifth hole begins with a carry over water, followed by two well-struck long irons or hybrids to reach the green in regulation. The 10th hole is a straightforward par-4 that plays uphill to one of the course’s highest spots. From the green, there are good photographic opportunities. The par-3 12th hole, which plays downhill in the other direction, is one of the most gorgeous spots in Ba Na Hills.

The first-rate amenities at Ba Na Hills include a clubhouse with a sleek, contemporary design, a grass driving range and practice areas, and a well-stocked pro shop. The restaurant offers sweeping views of the golf course and a diverse menu, with the Vietnamese dishes being the best by far.

The Ba Na Hills Golf Club is managed and maintained to world standards by IMG. All 18 holes are floodlit, which detracts from the course’s natural beauty but enables late-starting golfers to complete their rounds.
