Districts & Neighbourhoods In Da Nang

The city of Da Nang is officially divided into eight district-level sub-divisions, including six urban districts (Hải Châu, Thanh Khê, Cẩm Lệ, Sơn Trà, Ngũ Hành Sơn and Liên Chiểu) and two rural districts (Hòa Vang and Hoàng Sa (Paracel Islands)). They are further subdivided into 45 wards and 11 communes. The city center of Da Nang is Hải Châu district.

Before 1997, the city was a part of the province of Quang Nam–Da Nang. On 1 January 1997, Da Nang was detached from Quang Nam Province and became one of Vietnam’s five autonomous (centrally-controlled) municipalities.

Cẩm Lệ District

Cẩm Lệ is a Da Nang neighborhood in the South Central Coast area of Vietnam.

This district is comprised of six urban wards (phường).

As of 2003, the population of the district was 71,429 people. The district has a total size of 33,3 km2. The district’s capital is located in the Hòa Thọ Đông ward.

Hải Châu district

Hải Châu is an urban district (quận) of Da Nang in Vietnam’s South Central Coast region. This is the city’s administrative, cultural, and commercial hub. In Hải Châu, the city hall, the principal theater, and the main market are located. The Da Nang International Airport is approximately three kilometers (1.9 miles) from the district’s core.

Hải Châu is one of Da Nang’s key districts. The district is bordered by Da Nang Bay to the north, Thanh Khê district to the west, Sơn Trà and Ngũ Hành Sơn districts to the east, and Cẩm Lệ district to the west and south.

Administratively, Hải Châu is divided into thirteen wards (phường).

As of 2003, the population of the district was 197,118. The district encompasses 21 km2 of land. The district’s capital is located in the Phước Ninh ward.

Hòa Vang district

Hòa Vang is a rural district (huyện) of Da Nang in the region of Vietnam’s South Central Coast. It is bordered by the districts of Liên Chiểu and Cẩm Lệ to the east, the provinces of Thừa Thiên-Huế to the north and northwest, and Quảng Nam to the west and south.

As of 2003, the population of the district was 106,746. The district encompasses 708 km2 of land.

The district of Hòa Vang is subdivided into eleven rural communes (xã)

Liên Chiểu district

Liên Chiểu is an urban district of Da Nang on Vietnam’s South Central Coast. As of 2003, the population of the district was 71,818. The district encompasses 76 km2 of land. The district capital is located in the Hòa Minh ward.

The district consists of five wards (phường).

Ngũ Hành Sơn district

Ngũ Hành Sơn is a district (qun) of Da Nang in Vietnam’s South Central Coast region.

The district consists of four wards (phường).

In 2003, the population of the district was 50,105. The district encompasses 37 km2 of land. The district capital is located in the Khuê Mỹ ward.

Sơn Trà district

Sơn Trà is one of Da Nang’s urban districts (quận) in the South Central Coast area of Vietnam. As of 2003, the population of the district was 112,196. The district encompasses 60 km2 of land. The district is flanked to the north and east by the coast, to the west by the Hàn River, and to the south by the Ngũ Hành Sơn district. Sơn Trà Mountain dominates the majority of the district.

The district consists of seven wards (phường).

Thanh Khê district

Thanh Khê is a Da Nang neighborhood on Vietnam’s South Central Coast. In 2003, the district’s entire area was 9 km2 and its population was 160,955. The district’s capital is located in the Xuân Hà ward.
