The temple was constructed in the nineteenth century. According to one statement on a fresco on the southern window under the picture of St. Nicholas. Christopher is dated 1888, while another inscription on the stone under the names of the contributors from the ancient hamlet of Devnitza is dated 1889. It is thought that the temple was erected fully on the site of a previous temple or ancient votive during this time era.

Georgi Jonger, a well-known builder-dulger from the Macedonian town of Tresonça, erected the chapel. According to the design, the temple is a one-nave structure with a broad nave construction devoid of domes and a belfry, in the manner of other churches from the same time and architect. Perhaps this structure was accessible to the residents of Drushnitza at the time.

The altar icons, which have survived to this day, were created by masters of the Samokov Iconography School. The temple has recently renovated and repainted.

In 1996, the new addition was created under the direction and personal involvement of his longstanding predecessor, Father Dimitar Ukadinov, and included two chapels, office spaces, and a 20-meter-high belfry above the temple’s western entrance.

The temple is now a parish church for the districts of Dvenitsa, Mladost, Musagenitsa, and Student in the southeastern capital.

It has regular worship: tonight, tomorrow, and Holy Mass every Sunday, as well as all church festivals throughout the year.

The temple is particularly well-known for its philanthropic and educational efforts for the socially disadvantaged and teenage populations.
