Sin City Bar

With a name like Sin City, there are a thousand reasons or temptations to attend this club.

The building itself is an enormous edifice – three floors tall and imitating the Parthenon in Greece, with red lights lighting it from the bottom up – located in the center of Sofia near Vazrajdane Square. This was a drab workers’ club during communist times, known to some as the Cultural Home of the Trade Union of Bulgaria. Today, Sin City is all about having a decadent, hedonistic good time.

But what distinguishes Sin City from the other clubs in Sofia is that it is open every night of the week. With bodyguards at the door dressed in black suits, Sin City not only feels safer, more luxurious, and welcoming than other fashionable clubs, but its stunning interior design is unlike any other in the city, and possibly the world. The club, designed by Bulgarian designer Julian Tahov, has many rooms with wooden floors, creating a seemingly microcosmic city that includes Folk Club Help, a posh clubroom; Mistral Coffee, a modern coffee shop; Big Apple Piano bar, Lobby Bar, the entrance and hangout area; and Hemingway, a shop for various products ranging from perfume and roses to jewelry.

The DJ stage is elevated in the corner, and the VIP lounge is elevated as well, with a view of the whole room. The luxury atmosphere is enhanced with a VIP bar and washroom. Reservations are strongly advised for all areas of the Folk Club Help, but the luxurious VIP section is sometimes reserved months in advance. A bulgarian (sin city) custom of flinging napkins in the air may astound you. With a price tag of 200 EURO each pack, this gesture demonstrates the riches of the person tossing the napkins.

The club is already a favorite nightspot for foreigners and Bulgaria’s social elite, and the general consensus is that Sin City is the exciting location in Sofia to have a good time in a safe and intriguing environment. There is no other club like this in Sofia, and the decor alone is worth a visit for its eye-candy appeal. The Sin City is filled with red lights lighting the whole club.
