Pic Maià Mountain Hotel stands at Port d’Envalira, beside Grandvalira and roughly five kilometres from Pas de la Casa. At 2,408 metres, it is a high-mountain base rather than a village-centre hotel: guests are close to the ski area and open mountain, but shops and the full range of village services require a drive. Its location suits skiers, cyclists and walkers who value immediate access to the pass and can plan around changing alpine weather. The hotel is not the Pic Maià summit itself; it is accommodation on the Envalira pass, on the road linking the resort with the rest of Andorra.

The scale and arrangement are made for varied parties. The operator lists 100 rooms, all with exterior windows, mountain or ski-slope views, heating, television and Wi-Fi. Room categories range from single and twin Valley rooms to Sport rooms for larger groups and renovated Mountain rooms. Some family options sleep up to four; Mountain Junior Superior adds a hydromassage bath. Bed arrangements vary by category and availability, so a group should confirm whether its room has a double bed, separate singles, a sofa bed or the precise combination it needs. This is especially important for families sharing one room rather than booking adjoining rooms.

The pass-side setting changes the rhythm of a stay. In winter, the hotel is beside Grandvalira terrain, and booking platforms describe the nearest piste as about 20 metres away. Ski storage and equipment rental are available at the property, reducing the need to carry equipment from the village. A ski pass, rental, lessons or lift operation still depends on the resort’s own calendar and weather; the hotel’s proximity does not guarantee that a particular slope or lift is open. Check the resort’s live status and ask the hotel which access point is operating for the dates of travel.

The hotel also positions itself for road cycling, mountain biking and walking. Port d’Envalira is a high pass with an exposed, steep-sided landscape and fast changes in conditions. Its altitude may affect visitors who arrive from lower ground, and outdoor plans should allow time to adjust rather than treating the hotel as a lowland base. In snow season, the operator recommends winter tyres or chains and checking road conditions before setting out. A clear forecast in town cannot guarantee clear conditions at the pass, so drivers should carry appropriate equipment and be ready to change plans.

Room choice shapes how well the property fits a trip. More economical Valley rooms are described as compact, functional accommodation for one or two, while Sport types offer several twin or triple/quadruple configurations. Mountain rooms are renovated and soundproofed according to the operator; some include coffee and tea facilities, and selected family rooms have a sofa bed. Adapted rooms are available in limited numbers and must be requested in advance. Pet terms also vary across room descriptions: the current location FAQ welcomes pets in rooms without carpet for an additional charge, while the Mountain-room description says pets are not allowed in that category. Confirm the rule for the exact room rather than assuming a hotel-wide policy.

Food is part of the appeal of staying above the village. The hotel describes a daily buffet breakfast and evening buffet, and its dining pages identify a restaurant, café and SunDeck lounge. The café serves daytime hot dishes and snacks, while the SunDeck is presented as a place for drinks and light food with views across the surrounding peaks. These are useful options when a return drive to Pas de la Casa is undesirable, but the hotel does not publish the detailed meal-service hours on the pages reviewed. Ask about current serving times, whether meals are included in the selected rate and which outlets are operating during shoulder-season dates.

Parking is available in two forms: free outdoor spaces and paid covered parking. Both are subject to availability and are allocated on a first-come basis, so a covered space is not guaranteed simply because it appears among the facilities. The operator lists luggage storage, laundry and dry-cleaning for a charge, a gym, games room, reading lounge and meeting facilities. Wi-Fi is offered throughout. These services make the hotel more self-contained than a roadside stop, but guests should verify seasonal availability and any additional cost before arrival.

Check-in begins at 15:00 and checkout is before 12:00 according to the current hotel FAQ. Booking listings give an arrival window ending at 23:00 and describe reception as open around the clock; those details make late arrival possible only when coordinated with the property. Tell the hotel in advance if a mountain road, flight connection or border crossing could delay arrival. A 24-hour desk does not remove the stated check-in window or guarantee that every service operates overnight. Early access and late checkout are subject to availability and a possible extra charge.

Pic Maià is best for travellers who want to sleep at altitude, ski near the hotel or begin a mountain activity from the pass. It is less convenient for visitors who want to walk to a choice of shops and restaurants each evening, or who need guaranteed covered parking. The five-kilometre separation from Pas de la Casa is short in ordinary conditions but can matter during snow, darkness or road restrictions. Before booking, settle the room configuration, meal schedule, pet permission, parking type and late-arrival plan. With those practical points clear, the hotel offers a direct base between the ski domain and the high Pyrenean road landscape.
