Racó de Solanelles is a mountain restaurant at the top of Funicamp, in Grandvalira’s Encamp sector. Its position makes it accessible to visitors arriving by the Funicamp cable car as well as skiers using the mountain area, so it can work for a meal even when the plan is not a full day on the slopes. The official winter listing describes access on foot from the cable car with a lift pass or by ski. The restaurant combines an indoor dining room with a panoramic terrace and looks out across the surrounding mountains.

The current restaurant offer centres on grilled meats, with vegetarian and fish choices also listed. Grandvalira’s summer menu gives examples such as tomato salad with tuna belly, eggs with Iberian ham, provoleta with pesto, grilled salmon, beef entrecôte, beef or vegetarian burgers, and seitan with chimichurri. These examples show a mix of familiar mountain meals and meat-free options, but seasonal menus change and individual dishes may not be available throughout the year. Review the menu for your date and ask about ingredients if you have dietary requirements.

Grandvalira lists Racó de Solanelles as operating in both winter and summer. The summer 2026 season ran from 11 July through 8 September, with a schedule shown as 10:00–16:00 in the Spanish page and 12:00–16:00 in the English page. That period has ended. For winter 2025–26, the French page gives daily hours of 10:00–17:00 and an opening date of 5 December. Confirm the current season’s schedule before travelling; summer and winter hours differ, and the resort can update mountain operations.

The restaurant’s cuisine has a strong grill-and-brasserie character. Grandvalira describes the winter offer as an Argentine-style brasserie specializing in grilled meat and notes that the summer menu includes both vegetarian choices and fresh fish. The resort’s current menu PDF lists specific cuts, burgers and sides with prices for the 2025–26 period; prices and items can change. Check the latest version rather than relying on an archived menu, particularly if selecting a premium meat cut or planning a group meal.

Visitors can choose between the indoor dining room and the terrace. The terrace’s elevated position provides broad mountain views and, during the winter season, may host music performances. Check the current entertainment programme if music is part of your plan; it is a seasonal feature rather than a nightly guarantee or a reason to assume a performance is scheduled. Cafeteria service, pastries and takeaway sandwiches are also described in the winter listing, giving visitors an option for a lighter stop alongside the restaurant meal.

The top-of-Funicamp location shapes the visit. Check the cable-car timetable and ticket requirements before going up, especially if travelling with someone who does not ski. The restaurant is at the terminal, so it is more accessible from Encamp than a venue deep on the slopes, but access still depends on Funicamp operation and weather. Skiers should plan around lift closing times. The restaurant’s listed closing time is not an extension of the cable car or the ski day.

For a seated meal, reservations are available through Grandvalira. The contact number is +376 603 252, and the email address is racosolanelles@grandvalira.com. The resort recognizes the restaurant under the Andorra Selected label, but practical details matter most when planning: check seasonal opening dates, confirm whether the terrace is operating and reserve for a busy period. Ask the restaurant about step-free access from the cable-car terminal, children’s facilities and allergen preparation before booking, so the meal and the journey suit everyone in your party.

The restaurant should not be confused with Self-Service Solanelles, a separate Grandvalira cafeteria outlet in the Encamp sector. Racó de Solanelles is the à la carte restaurant with grilled meats, a panoramic terrace and advance booking; the self-service location has a different format and menu-package options. Use the full name Racó de Solanelles when checking maps or making a reservation to avoid being directed to the wrong food outlet.

Funicamp is the most useful wayfinding reference for visitors who are not skiing. The restaurant is at the cable car’s upper terminal, so the journey itself is part of the outing and depends on the lift being in operation. Check the cable-car hours, ticket requirements and weather notices before setting off from Encamp. The access information differs slightly by source and season: Grandvalira describes the winter approach as a walk from the cable car with a lift pass or by ski, while the summer page places the restaurant at the top of Funicamp. Do not assume that the restaurant can be reached by car from the town side.

The published summer menu suggests options for groups with different preferences, including grilled meat, fish, vegetarian burgers and seitan. It also includes shared starters and desserts. The 2025–26 winter PDF shows premium meat cuts and prices, but it is season-specific and should not be used as a current quote for a later visit. Ask whether dishes are available on the day, whether children’s portions can be arranged and how vegetarian items are prepared. The online information confirms choice, but not a complete allergen guide or guaranteed separate preparation.

Reservations are particularly useful when coordinating a group arriving by Funicamp, since lift travel can compress the time available for lunch. The official contact is +376 603 252 and racosolanelles@grandvalira.com. Confirm the reservation time against the cable-car schedule, ask which dining room is booked and check whether terrace seating is open. This avoids arriving at a panoramic self-service cafeteria when the intention was a seated à la carte meal at Racó de Solanelles.
