Colibrí is a mountain café and quick-service restaurant at the upper arrival point of Funicamp, in Grandvalira’s Encamp sector. It is designed for a ski day: visitors can stop for breakfast before setting off, pause for coffee and homemade pastries, or take a short meal break without leaving the mountain. Grandvalira describes the offer as cafeteria and fast food, with quick dishes and an outdoor terrace. This is a practical piste-side stop rather than a destination for a long formal lunch, and its location makes it particularly convenient for people arriving by gondola from Encamp.

The restaurant sits in an unusually useful position for a group whose members start the day at different speeds. Someone can get a coffee or breakfast after the ride up, while others prepare equipment or check the mountain conditions. Later, the terrace provides a place to pause in clear weather and look out over the high mountain setting. Grandvalira lists homemade pastries prepared daily, alongside café service and quick food. The operator does not publish a fixed menu in the general venue description, so visitors with a particular dish, allergy or dietary requirement should check the current menu in the resort’s own ordering channels rather than assume that a past item is still available.

Access is part of the experience and also the main planning constraint. For winter 2025–26, Grandvalira states that Colibrí is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the season beginning on 5 December. It describes access as on foot from the gondola, with a ski pass required, or on skis. The restaurant is therefore not a normal roadside café that can be reached by driving to its door. A gondola ticket or valid ski access is necessary, and the Funicamp’s own operation, weather interruptions and lift schedule determine whether a visit is possible. Do not plan to walk up to the restaurant from town or treat the venue’s published winter schedule as a year-round promise.

The daily 9:00–17:00 timetable applies to winter 2025–26, which has ended. Do not use it to plan a September 2026 visit or assume that the same dates and hours will apply in winter 2026–27. Confirm the coming season’s opening date and daily service with Grandvalira before buying lift access specifically for a meal. Before travelling, check Grandvalira’s current dining and lift information for the season you intend to visit. The gondola may stop running before the restaurant’s stated closing time, and final lift times can vary by sector or conditions; arrange your return journey around the current lift timetable rather than relying on the café’s closing hour.

For a first break, the venue’s location at the top of Funicamp means you can eat before moving on to pistes or other activities in the Encamp sector. Skiers can also return to the snow directly after a short stop. Conditions change quickly at altitude, so keep outer layers available even if Encamp village is mild. The terrace is an outdoor amenity and is weather-dependent; wind, snowfall or low temperatures can make indoor seating more comfortable or affect terrace access. The restaurant listing also names toilets and Wi-Fi, but availability can be affected by the operating season or temporary service arrangements.

Families may find the café convenient because breakfast and a quick snack are easy to combine with a day on the slopes. Even so, access requires adult attention: the arrival point is part of an active mountain resort, where skiers and equipment move through shared areas. Keep children close when stepping between the lift terminal, restaurant and snow, and follow resort signage. A ski pass required for pedestrian gondola access is not the same as a restaurant reservation, and the operator’s standard listing does not state that a table booking is needed. During busy holiday periods, allow time for queues and be prepared for limited seating at peak meal times.

Colibrí works best as one component of a wider Grandvalira day. It can anchor a breakfast or coffee stop at the top of the gondola, but it does not provide access to ski lessons, equipment rental, lift tickets or other activities by itself. Those services have separate locations, booking terms and schedules. If you are not skiing, verify in advance that pedestrian gondola access is available on your date and that a valid ticket covers the journey. If you are skiing, check the piste map and closures before choosing a route to or from the restaurant; the most direct run may not be open or suitable for every ability level.

Practical preparation is straightforward: purchase or confirm the appropriate lift access, check the live mountain and weather updates, and carry payment options accepted by the resort. Grandvalira lists Wi-Fi, toilets and a terrace, but does not make a separate promise about every payment method or dietary accommodation on the overview page. Ask staff about ingredients and cross-contact when allergies matter. Because this is a seasonal high-altitude venue, opening periods and menus are more changeable than those of a town café. The current official resort page is the most useful place to confirm the next winter’s opening date and daily service.

Colibrí is a seasonal mountain café, not a continuously accessible attraction or a café in the streets of Encamp. The winter 2025–26 timetable ran daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with that season beginning on 5 December. Confirm the winter 2026–27 opening dates and timetable before travelling. On the days it operates, its mix of coffee, breakfast, homemade pastries and quick dishes makes it a convenient first or mid-morning stop at Funicamp’s upper station. Treat lift access, current season dates and mountain conditions as essential parts of the visit, and confirm all three before setting out.
