Beaches in Vung Tau

Vung Tau is a nearby paradise for Saigon visitors due to its proximity to the sea. Foreigners who have traveled extensively may be disappointed. The beach is unappealing, with rubbish surrounding the coast, however as of July 2018, the local authorities had a clean up and the beaches are considerably cleaner, and much of the sandy eastern beach has signage warning against risky swimming. Near the city center, there are four beaches:

  • Bãi Dâu (Mulberry Beach). Small beach on the west side of Big Mount.
  • Bãi Dứa (Pineapple Beach). Small beach along Hạ Long St, by Small Mount.
  • Bãi Sau (Back Beach). Also known as Thùy Vân Beach. Vung Tau’s sole regular tourist beach. It is 3 kilometers long and runs from the Small Mount to Paradise Park. All of the beaches in this area are free. In some areas, you must walk through “water parks” to reach to the beach; in others, there is a nice promenade that leads right to the beach. There are lockers where you can store your items for 15,000 dong per person. A beach umbrella costs 30,000 dong, while a chaise longue costs 25,000 dong. A beach chair and umbrella cost 50,000 dong in July 2018. Showers with running water cost 8,000 dong. All day sea parachuting and canoeing are provided. The beach is clean, the water is shallow a long way out, there aren’t many jet skis, and there aren’t many beach hawkers.
  • Bãi Trước (Front Beach) (Centre of Vung Tau between Big and Small Mount). The beach is surrounded by restaurants, kiosks, and hotels. Front Beach is linked by a small park known as Front Beach Park. Because it is near the city’s tourism center, most people come here to see the park and watch the sunset when it becomes extremely popular with local tourists.

Beer prices are slightly more than in local bars, although not significantly so.
