Vinh

Vinh is the biggest city in north-central Vietnam and the main economic and cultural center. Vinh is also the capital of Nghệ An Province as well as an important point on the East-West commercial corridor, which links Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.

The town can be found in Southeast of Nghe An province along Lam River (Song Lam) that stands on Viet Nam’s primary North-to-South transport route having easy access by road, rail, waterway and air. As from today, four airlines serve Vinh International Airport expanded: Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways and Jetstar Pacific.

It became a grade-I city from a grade-II one on September 5th 2008 when it was made officially a grade-I city so thus making it Vietnam’s fifth grade-I town after Haiphong Đà Nẵng and Huế. With around 490 thousand people (2015 estimate), Vinh has become the highest populated city in North Central Coastal Area. In Hà Tĩnh Province it is bordered by Nghi Xuan district to its south-west while Hung Nguyen district to its westward edge as well as Nghi Loc district lies across its northern side eastwards boundary.

Vinh is located about 300 kilometers (190 miles) south of Hanoi and 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) north of Ho Chi Minh City. The total area of Vinh city is 104.97 square kilometers (40.53 square miles), including 16 urban wards and nine outlying communes for a whole size at this area

Tourism In Vinh

Vinh and Nghe An provinces on the North Central Coast of Vietnam are quickly becoming popular spots for tourists due to a range of tourist attractions. Located in Pu Mat commune, across Nhun District to the west from Vinh City by around 120km or 75miles , Pù Mát National Park is among biggest parks in Viet Nam being full of original forest feature .   • Quyet Mountain is located 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) southeast of the center. Which is a bold cultural-historical-Nghe An ecological tourist area. Quyet Mountain Park was established with the goal of protecting a cultural legacy dating back over 200 years. It was Quang Trung King’s Phuong Hoang Trung Do (Phoenix Centre Capital).
  • Mường Thanh Safari Land, Mường Thanh Water Park are located in Dien Lam, Dien Chau, approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) north of Vinh city center. Rhinos, giraffes, white tigers, yellow tigers, bears, elephants, hippos, zebras, hyenas, and jaguars are among the many wild species from throughout the world.
  • Bai Lu Resort is around 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of Vinh center in Nghi Loc. Tourists can enjoy views of the seashore by climbing Heaven Gate mountain. “Da Lat on the sea,” as the saying goes.
  • Sunflower field in Nghia Dan, around 100 kilometers (62 miles) northwest of Vinh city, with an area of 80 hectares (200 acres). Those flowers bloom from late March to mid-April and again in mid-December each year.
  • Huong Tich pagoda (Ha Tinh), approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Vinh city. The pagoda was constructed under the Tran kings’ attachment to Princess Dieu Thien. It was dubbed “First Hoan Chau locations” not only because of the unusual environment, but also because of the ancient sediments that had been handed down over thousands of years. Tourists can get there via bus, boat on Nha Duong Lake, or by taking the cable car up the mountain.
  • Vinpearl Cua Hoi is located 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) east of Vinh City. This is a world-class five-star resort with gorgeous beaches, a giant artificial pool, a water park, and other first-rate amenities spread across 38.7 hectares (96 acres).
  • Pu Mat National Park is located 115 kilometers (71 miles) northwest of Vinh, near the Laotian border. It has become a famous trekking destination due to its diverse fauna, which includes tigers and elephants. Tours to Pu Mat National Park can be arranged from Vinh.

Best Time To Visit Vinh

Vinh is a city that has tropical monsoon climate which has hot summers characterized by humidity and mild winters. The most delightful moments of visiting Vinh are between October to April when temperatures are comfortable and there is less humidity. In this period, the average high temperature ranges from 19.4°C in January to 28.3°C in April.

Those who like dry weather should come in February or March but not in October when it is usually raining heavily. Each month during the recommended visiting period offers unique experiences, from decreasing rainfall in October to cooler temperatures in November to January, and warmer weather from February to April, suitable for outdoor activities.

How To Travel To Vinh

The newly expanded Vinh International Airport has three airlines serving it on a daily basis namely; Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and Jetstar Pacific. There are daily flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Buon Ma Thuot and Da Lat.

Being the largest city between Hanoi and Hue, the coast’s bus route passes through here. It takes about 6 hours on the bus from Hanoi (200,000 dong). The journey from Hanoi to Da Nang is approximate ten hours by road. A local minibus from Thanh Hoa will take around 3.5 hours at 100,000 dong.

On the main route multiple trains run every day from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. It takes about 6 hours for the train to get there while approximately eight hours is needed for it to travel to Hue. The railway line that links Vinh and Dong Hoi with southern sections uses an inland path which differs from that of highway one and has some beautiful scenery along it that way.

Attractions & Things To See In Vinh

Some of the city’s most notable landmarks include Song Lam (Light Blue River), Ho Chi Minh Square, Phuong Hoang Trung Do (Phoenix Capital with Quang Trung King Temple), Dung Quyet Mountain with stunning and breathtaking views of the Lam River, Hong Linh Mountain Rank, East Sea and all Vinh City.

Kim Lien, President Ho Chi Minh’s hometown is located 10 kilometers west of Vinh in the Nam Dan district. Situated 120km away is Pù Mát National Park one of Vietnam’s largest and well-preserved national parks.

They include guided tours in Pu Mat by a local tour company where their customers can choose to explore Khe Kem Waterfall and/or take part in the Giang River boat trip. Also visit the Pha Lai Dam or “Sang Le” Forest.

Nightlife in Vinh

There are at least 100 of those coffee houses in Vinh, which are very beautiful and comfortable. The coffee and fruit juices there are made perfectly.

The city has several taprooms where you can drink beer from morning till evening.“

We Pub is a European-style pub located at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street with a reasonable range of beers and spirits. Downstairs is quite noisy while upstairs is a calm lounge.
