Attractions & Things To See In Tay Ninh
- Cao Dai Temple. Services at 06:00, 12:00, 18:00, 24:00. The majority of visitors arrive for the midday mass. A balcony runs along the walls about halfway up. You can watch the service from here. It’s a lovely view. An orchestra of about ten members performs traditional Vietnamese music. A choir of about 20 people leads the assembly in prayer. The musical mix of the hymns is highly uncommon, combining Western and Vietnamese styles. The Divine Eye, shaped like a triangle of justice, is located in front of the temple. On a cosmic globe, it is encircled by flowers. Three glasses of wine, a cup of water, and a cup of tea are placed on the altar. The domed roof of the temple is painted with stars and features a blue globe, which is a Cao Dai motif. Free.
- Dau Tieng Reservoir (19 km from Tay Ninh). It was built in 1981 to give water to Tay Ninh province and nearby areas. The lake has a surface size of 27,000 hectares and can hold up to 1.5 billion m3 of water. The reservoir is situated in a picturesque environment of mountains and islets.
- Lo Go Xa Mat National Park (30 km NW of Tay Ninh). A short ride from Tay Ninh is the last remains of a primeval forest that once covered much of Tay Ninh province. Lo Go Xa Mat National Park, which covers 18,675 ha and is made up of lowland forests and marshes, was created as a natural reserve in 2002. The park is home to a diverse range of vegetation and fauna, including some endangered species. The park, Tay Ninh’s only designated natural reserve, is nature’s last stand. Deforestation had left very little remains of the forest on the Cambodian side of the park. Agriculture is rapidly creeping on the Vietnamese side. See nature as it was before most of the country was given up to man. The Cao Dai Holy See contains some portions of old woodland in front of the main temple, which is where the monkeys now live.
- Ba Den Mountain (approximately 10 km NE of Tay Ninh). This mountain is known as the roof of southern Vietnam and is also known as van son or cloud mountain due to its constant cloud cover. The mountain is composed of three smaller mountains known as Heo (pig), Phung (phoenix), and Ba Den (black lady). There is a cable car that runs from the bottom of the mountain to the top. You can also hike the trail. The countryside vistas are spectacular. There are lunar New Year rites and events that draw approximately a million tourists each year. If you happen to be in town between the 15th and 18th of the first lunar month, you can attend the Ba Den Mountain Spring Festival.
