Description

The Huu Tiep Lake in Hanoi’s Ngoc Ha Ward, Ba Dinh District, is a remnant of an ancient river. Popularly known as B-52 lake, it includes a US B-52 bomber that was shot down during the Vietnam War on December 27, 1972. The bomber submerged in the algae-green sea represents Vietnam’s victory over the United States. It also serves as a continual reminder of the war’s horror and the countless lives that were lost. An inscription beside the lake that reads “amazing feat of arm that knocked down the US imperialist’s bomber” honors the valor and resolve that led to Vietnam’s victory.

The Huu Tiep Lake is situated in the Ba Dinh District, close to the Ho Chi Minh Museum. From everywhere in Hanoi, you may take a tuk-tuk or cab to get here. From the Ngoc Ha Bus Stop, which is accessible through Bus Line 9, it will take you ten minutes to reach the lake on foot.
