Description

Nha Rong Wharf, the former headquarters of French Five Star Vessel Corporate, was constructed in 1863 at the confluence of the Saigon and Ben Nghe rivers. The structure has two dragons on its roof, like “two dragons flanking the moon,” and is hence commonly referred to as “The Dragon house.” The dock belonging to this region is also known as Dragon house Wharf (Nha Rong Wharf).

Nha Rong Wharf is well-known not because of its establishment history or the remnants of ancient French architecture in Ho Chi Minh City, but because of the Vietnamese people’s adherence to and protection of noble and precious spiritual values. Here, on May 6, 1911, Nguyen Tat Thanh, a Vietnamese youngster, goes in search of national salvation. After more than three decades of travel abroad, Nguyen Tat Thanh became a revolutionary leader, guiding the Vietnamese people in the August Revolution and establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Later, the young discovered a solution to save the country’s former president, Ho Chi Minh.

In the past, Nha Rong Wharf exclusively sold tickets to people boarding ships. In the 21st century, Ho Chi Minh City’s pride became an attractive destination. At night, when standing on the bridge between District 1 and District 4, with a view of the port, the light from the Dragon house shimmers down the Saigon River. The Phu My bridge is visible in the distance as a brilliant ribbon spanning the river. Dragon House Wharf at night is a sight to behold.

Since September 1979, the Dragon house has been used as a museum displaying artefacts associated with the life and activities of President Ho Chi Minh. The memorial home was renamed Ho Chi Minh Museum, branch in Ho Chi Minh City in October 1995. It annually attracted millions of domestic and international tourists.
