Vietnamese water puppetry is a traditional form of art that has been practiced in Vietnamese communities since the 11th century, when it first appeared in the Red River Delta region of northern Vietnam. The contemporary Vietnamese art of water puppetry is a distinctive adaptation of the traditional Asian puppetry.

  • Swimming pools. Although there are a lot of swimming pools, people obviously come here to swim in the sea. A decent one is available and free to use at Louisiane Brewhouse. A plush chaise longue may be rented for 40,000 dong. A small, shaded pool is available for use without charge inside the Yasaka Saigon Nha Trang Hotel coffee shop on Yersin St. There are pools in a variety of mid-range hotels, some of which are open to non-guests. The lovely rooftop pool at Sea and Sun Hotel charges 70,000 dong for visitors. In Nha Trang, there is also a little used outdoor pool of Olympic dimensions. It is utilized for training by some scuba diving businesses. Only 15,000 dong are required. It’s on the south side of the city, some distance from the major tourist area. For directions, ask someone who works at a scuba store. The public can no longer access this (I was told it is for clubs only use). Another sizable public pool is available for 30,000 dong at Yersin Street, which is across from the hospital. Central Park on Tran Phu, next to Louisiane Brewhouse, is an other choice. Swim for free by purchasing a deckchair for 60,000 or 120,000. has a lazy river, a pool bar, and a tiny diving board for children.

Diving & snorkelling

A group of islands located not far from Nha Trang are readily reachable on a day trip and offer good diving and snorkeling opportunities. There are roughly 20 diving shops in the city, which leads to robust rivalry and excellent pricing. For USD 250, PADI open water courses with equipment rental are offered. For USD45, you may take a two-dive boat tour that includes equipment rental and a simple lunch.

Underwater visibility can occasionally be poor due to the amount of silt that coastal and underwater development has churned up. Fish life is likewise scarce because to the area’s intensive fishing. You wouldn’t travel halfway across the world to dive in Nha Trang. However, Nha Trang is a fantastic spot to earn your diving certification if it is something you have always wanted to do. The shops typically provide high-quality gear and qualified, experienced dive masters. While diving is always possible, it is only possible at a few places in the lee of the islands during the windy season of October to December due to the strong seas on the boat voyage.

The Nha Trang dive business is occasionally intricately organized. If you sign up for a trip with shop A, you can wind up traveling with a group and divemaster from shop B, who owns the boat separately from the other groups and divemasters from shop C. When few or no stores can fill a boat on their own during the off-season, consolidation is particularly prevalent. It serves as a good example of Vietnamese culture, which places little value on ceremony, enjoys a good deal, and is quite adept at making the most of available resources. Most of the divemasters in the area are terrific, affable individuals with lots of interesting tales to share.
