November sees frequent flooding in Hoi An. Visitors who want to visit during one of their floods need make reservations in advance.
Despite press reports of visitor evacuations amid the flooding in November 2013, the city remained open. Tourists started checking into hotels higher up when hotels close to the river began to flood. Up to four blocks uphill from the river, as well as the hotel and restaurant district across the bridge on the peninsula of An Hoi, were damaged by flooding. The cleanup seems to have been managed well, and the water levels for this flood appear to be a little lower than those during the 2011 storm.
