GO! Thăng Long in Hanoi, Vietnam

Former Big C Thang Long reopened as GO!

GO! Thăng Long is the current identity of the long-running Big C Thăng Long complex at 222 Trần Duy Hưng in western Hanoi. The name change is not just cosmetic. Central Retail completed a major redevelopment and officially reopened the site as GO! Thăng Long Shopping Mall on 1 December 2025, turning a familiar hypermarket-led destination into a broader three-level shopping, dining and entertainment complex. Travelers who still see the old Big C name on older listings should understand that they are looking at the same place and same address. The Travel S Helper entity therefore continues the old Big C Thăng Long record while presenting the current GO! identity.

The redevelopment substantially changed the visitor experience. Reporting from the reopening describes a total area of about 35,180 square metres across three commercial levels, with total investment of roughly VND 650 billion and more than VND 200 billion devoted to renovation. The current complex combines the GO! hypermarket with more than 250 brands across food, fashion, services, entertainment and family activities. That range makes GO! Thăng Long much closer to a modern destination mall than the older image of a large supermarket with attached shops.

For practical shopping, the hypermarket remains one of the strongest reasons to come. It covers groceries, household goods and everyday essentials, while the surrounding mall adds fashion, sportswear, beauty, cafés and restaurants. Recent launch material names brands such as Adidas, Li-Ning, PNJ, Canifa, KFC, Dookki, Highlands, Phúc Long and The Coffee House, together with entertainment such as Lotte Cinema. Tenant lists evolve, but the important point is that the new center is designed for several different purposes in one visit rather than a single grocery run.

Families are a clear target audience. Central Retail’s post-renovation facilities include family-oriented conveniences, and reopening coverage notes a baby-care/changing room, accessible toilets and routes intended for visitors with disabilities, free luggage storage and limited free parking time. The second floor also includes space promoting Vietnamese OCOP regional products, adding a useful local-shopping angle for travelers who want packaged specialties rather than only international mall brands. These details distinguish the renovated center from many older shopping complexes in Hanoi.

The location on Trần Duy Hưng places GO! Thăng Long in a busy western business and residential corridor rather than the Old Quarter. It makes more sense for travelers staying around Cầu Giấy, Trung Hòa or the western districts than for someone making a special shopping trip from Hoàn Kiếm purely for atmosphere. On the other hand, if you need a modern indoor complex with a large supermarket, food choices and entertainment, the broad offer can justify the journey. Use 222 Trần Duy Hưng as the navigation address, and search for GO! Thăng Long rather than relying only on “Big C.”

A typical visit can last from two to four hours. A quick supermarket stop may take under an hour, while a family combining shopping, a meal, children’s activities and a film can easily spend half a day. Entry to the mall is free; costs come from purchases, food and paid entertainment. The complex’s scale means it is worth deciding your main purpose before arrival. If groceries are the priority, head to the GO! hypermarket first; if dining or entertainment is the focus, checking the current floor directory can save unnecessary walking.

Current shop listings and recent business data generally support a core daily schedule around 08:00–22:00. Some businesses open later, and weekend or holiday closing times may differ. The hypermarket, cinema, restaurants and entertainment operators can all keep different hours from the common mall areas, especially around Tết or major promotions. For that reason the daily 08:00–22:00 window is useful for planning but should not be treated as a guarantee for every tenant.

Accessibility is better documented here than at many older Hanoi malls because the 2025 renovation explicitly added visitor facilities. Current reopening information mentions routes and toilets for people with disabilities, while the center also has modern circulation and family facilities. Even so, visitors who need a particular mobility service, wheelchair loan or assistance arrangement should confirm it directly. Parking is available, and the reopening material publicized a limited period of free parking, but parking policies are commercial terms that can change and should be checked on arrival.

GO! Thăng Long is therefore best understood as a renewed retail landmark with a long local history. The Big C name explains why many Hanoi residents still refer to the site that way, while the GO! branding reflects its present function as a much broader mall. For visitors, the practical value lies in the combination: a major hypermarket, many shops, food, cinema and family entertainment under one roof. It is less about sightseeing than convenience, but after the 2025 transformation it is a far more complete indoor destination than the legacy listing suggests.
