The majestic ancient baths building beside the mosque houses this museum devoted to the ‘History of Sofia.’ After years of renovation and preparation, it was opened to the public on September 17, 2015. There are eight galleries with approximately 1000 exhibits ranging from 6000 BC to the current day; among the various artifacts on show are a rebuilt neolithic dwelling, an ancient news stand, costumes, Marie Antoinette’s horse carriage, and a golden clock given to Prince Ferdinand by Queen Victoria. There are frequent temporary exhibitions in addition to the permanent displays.
