Yordan Radichkov was a Bulgarian dramatist and author.
Adelina Angusheva and Galin Tihanov described him as “probably the most prominent voice of Bulgarian literature in the final part of the twentieth century.”
Some literary critics have dubbed him the “Bulgarian Kafka” or “Gogol.” Radichkov is well-known for his many short tales, novels, and plays. He is also recognized for writing the scripts for the Bulgarian films Torrid Noon (1966), directed by Zako Heskiya, The Tied Up Balloon (1967), and The Last Summer (1968).
Radichkov was awarded the Order of the Balkan Mountains by the Bulgarian government in 2000.
In 2007, a memorial honoring him was unveiled in the grounds of the old Royal Palace, now the National Art Gallery in Sofia’s city center.
