Serdika is a district in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, and the old Roman name of the city. “Fondovi zhilishta,” “Banishora,” “Orlandovtsi,” and “Malashevtsi,” as well as the heart of “Draz mahala,” are all included in this area. It covers an area of 17.53 km2 and accounts for 1.3 percent of the capital’s overall area and 8.8 percent of the city’s actual size. Serdica’s population was 52,918 people in 2006.
The district has six kindergartens, thirteen schools, and six chitalishta. II and V City Hospitals; the Institute of Transport Medicine; and two polyclinics make up the healthcare infrastructure. Serdica is also home to the Central Railway Station, Central Bus Station, and Lavov Most.
