Zell am Ziller is a charming town nestled in the beautiful Tyrol state of Austria, situated in the picturesque Schwaz district. The name of the river is derived from the Zillertal valley, through which it gracefully flows. Zell am Ziller has a population of approximately 1,720 residents and covers an area of 2.44 square kilometers.It is a well-known spot for winter sports, being a part of the Zillertal Arena ski area.

Zell am Ziller is made up of various districts and neighborhoods, each with its own unique history and character.

• Zellberg: This district lies on the eastern slope of the Ziller valley, above Zell am Ziller. It is divided into two parts: Zellberg Oberdorf and Zellberg Unterdorf. Zellberg is known for its traditional costumes, folk music, and handicrafts. It also has a pilgrimage church dedicated to St. Veit, which dates back to the 15th century.
• Rohrberg: This district is located on the western slope of the Ziller valley, opposite Zellberg. It consists of several hamlets, such as Rohr, Kapauns, and Haslach. Rohrberg is a rural and agricultural area, with many farms and pastures. It also has a chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas, which was built in 1699.
• Gerlosberg: This district is situated on the southern side of the Gerlos mountain, which separates the Ziller valley from the Salzach valley. It is composed of several villages, such as Ried, Hainzenberg, and Gerlosberg. Gerlosberg is a scenic and sunny area, with many hiking trails and viewpoints. It also has a gold mine museum, which showcases the history and techniques of gold mining in the region.
• Zell am Ziller: This is the main town and the administrative center of the municipality. It lies on the banks of the Ziller river, at an elevation of 575 m. It has a historic center, with many old buildings and monuments. Some of the attractions include the parish church of St. Veit, which was built in 1779, the local history museum, which displays the cultural and natural heritage of the Zillertal valley, and the Zillertalbahn, a narrow-gauge railway that connects Zell am Ziller with other towns in the valley.
