Introduction
Veranda Brasserie & Bar – Bar — The Current Champagne-Bar Successor to LE BAR
Sans Souci’s former standalone LE BAR identity has been folded into today’s Veranda Brasserie & Bar, where the hotel still serves an extensive champagne list, cocktails, tastings and the Laurent Perrier terrace lounge.
The underlying hospitality function remains real and active in 2026, but the current primary branding has changed. Sans Souci’s live website no longer presents LE BAR as a separate standalone venue. Instead, its bar operation is integrated into Veranda Brasserie & Bar, which the hotel describes as an all-day culinary space running from breakfast to the final drink. The current official text says the bar serves expertly mixed cocktails, signature long drinks and personalised creations alongside a curated selection of more than one hundred champagnes. The dedicated Veranda site also offers champagne tastings, cocktail workshops and a summer Laurent Perrier Lounge. For travellers, the practical conclusion is simple: go to Hotel Sans Souci and look for Veranda Brasserie & Bar rather than insisting on a separate current sign or reservation labelled only LE BAR.
The name transition is gradual enough that older and even some 2026 sources still use LE BAR. Herold’s April 2026 business listing maintains “Le Bar im Sans Souci” at Burggasse 2, and a 2026 luxury-hotel catalogue still describes the hotel as offering both restaurant Veranda and champagne bar Le Bar. Third-party prestige-hotel material likewise continues to call the golden champagne room LE BAR and describes more than one hundred champagnes. At the same time, Sans Souci’s own current homepage and the dedicated Veranda website have consolidated the public bar experience under Veranda Brasserie & Bar, with a single `veranda@sanssouci-wien.com` contact and a daily evening bar schedule. Management responses to older online reviews of LE BAR have also been signed by the Veranda Brasserie & Bar team. The most accurate identity treatment is therefore continuity/rebranding, not closure: the champagne-bar experience survives, while the current official public name has shifted.
The current bar schedule is much simpler than older LE BAR timetables. Sans Souci’s live homepage states that the bar is open daily from 17:00 to 24:00. The Veranda website gives the same evening window: Monday through Friday 17:00–24:00 after the daytime restaurant break, and Saturday, Sunday and holidays 17:00–24:00 after brunch service. This supersedes older LE BAR schedules showing later 01:00 or 02:00 closes and an older 17:30–24:00 pattern. The current champagne tasting programme is separately defined. Private tastings can be arranged on an evening of choice between 18:00 and 21:00, subject to availability, and currently include three styles—Brut, Rosé and Vintage—plus an additional glass of the guest’s favourite and canapés. A visitor who simply wants a cocktail or glass of champagne does not need to book the tasting format.
The current drink identity is broader than champagne alone but remains strongly anchored in sparkling wine. Sans Souci’s live site now says the bar carries more than one hundred champagnes, while earlier LE BAR material spoke of more than sixty. The dedicated Veranda page highlights wines and champagne alongside creative cocktails, and the summer Laurent Perrier Lounge extends the same theme onto the Burggasse terrace with light snacks and mixed drinks. This evolution matters because a traveller returning after several years may remember a more self-contained golden champagne bar. The present experience is integrated with the restaurant and terrace, making it easier to combine aperitif, dinner and drinks without moving between separate hotel brands. The trade-off is that LE BAR has less distinct current branding than it once did.
The hotel itself is highly accessible and easy to reach. Vienna Tourism classifies Sans Souci Wien as fully wheelchair accessible and lists an elevator and garage, while the hotel’s own directions place U2/U3 Volkstheater only steps away. The current directions page also offers valet parking and an on-site electric charging station. Because the bar is now part of a broader restaurant/hotel operation, guests with a specific wheelchair table, tasting setup or terrace request should contact Veranda directly rather than rely on legacy LE BAR information. The location is especially convenient before or after MuseumsQuartier, Volkstheater or Spittelberg.

From LE BAR to the Current Veranda Brasserie & Bar Identity
LE BAR was historically presented as Sans Souci’s dedicated champagne bar, separate in naming from Restaurant Veranda. Older hotel press material describes a golden bar with dozens of champagnes, cocktails and regular tastings. That identity remained strong enough that tourism and business directories continued to list it separately into 2026.
The current first-party presentation is different. Sans Souci’s homepage routes dining and drinks through Veranda Brasserie & Bar, and the separate Veranda website describes the bar programme, cocktail workshops, champagne tastings and Laurent Perrier terrace. The old LE BAR email has also effectively been replaced in current public use by the Veranda contact.
This is why the entity should not be held as closed or deleted. The same address, hotel, champagne emphasis and evening drinking function remain active; the brand boundary changed. For travel content, the current name should lead while LE BAR remains an alternate/legacy name so guests recognise older saved listings and reviews.
The current consolidation also changes how old reviews should be read. Reviews describing a separate golden LE BAR can still be useful for service or atmosphere history, but they should not be treated as proof that guests in 2026 will find an independent sign, booking system or floor identity under that name. The management’s own later review responses signed by the Veranda team reinforce that the guest-facing operation has become unified. This is a branding transition at a functioning hotel bar, not a disappearance of champagne service.

More than 100 Champagnes and a Still-Serious Sparkling-Wine Identity
Sans Souci’s current homepage says the evening bar offers a curated selection of more than one hundred champagnes. That is larger than the sixty-plus range described in earlier LE BAR press material and shows that champagne remains central after the rebrand. The current bar also serves signature long drinks and personalised cocktails, so guests who do not drink champagne are not restricted.
Private champagne tastings are still a major product. The current Veranda site offers an evening tasting with Brut, Rosé and Vintage samples plus another glass of the favourite and canapés. The experience is request-based and subject to availability between 18:00 and 21:00. It is better suited to guests who want structured learning than to someone stopping in for one glass before dinner.
The wine programme sits within a restaurant using local and often organic produce, which means a tasting can be connected with food more naturally than when LE BAR functioned primarily as a separate drinks room. Champagne enthusiasts may see this as a broader experience; guests nostalgic for the old standalone bar may notice the identity has become less isolated.
The increase from “over 60” champagnes in older LE BAR material to “over 100” on the current Sans Souci homepage suggests that the champagne emphasis has not been diluted by the integration. If anything, the selection has expanded while the public branding became broader. Visitors interested in one house, vintage or style should ask what is currently available by the glass rather than assuming every bottle in the cellar is opened for casual service. The private tasting format is a better choice for systematic comparison.

Cocktails, Dinner and the Laurent Perrier Lounge Now Share One Public Brand
The dedicated Veranda site uses one brand for breakfast, dinner, cocktails and champagne. This makes planning more flexible. A guest can begin on the Laurent Perrier terrace, move into dinner and finish with another drink without changing venue names or making separate reservations. It also reduces the risk of arriving at Sans Souci and asking staff for a bar identity that is no longer foregrounded.
The summer Laurent Perrier Lounge is the most visible outdoor extension. Current official material presents it as a sunlit terrace for champagne, snacks and cocktails with views toward the street life around MuseumsQuartier. It is seasonal in feel even though the indoor bar runs year-round.
Visitors who want only the former LE BAR atmosphere should ask hotel staff where the current evening bar service is seated. The operator can place guests in the most appropriate area depending on dinner reservations, terrace weather and private events. The public concept is now integrated enough that old floor-plan assumptions may not be useful.
Cocktail workshops add another contemporary layer. The current Veranda site sells cocktail courses alongside champagne tastings, showing that the former bar programme has widened beyond passive service. A traveller who wants an activity rather than a simple drink can therefore book a structured experience. These workshops should be treated separately from ordinary opening hours because they depend on dates, capacity and advance reservation.

Why the Current 17:00–24:00 Schedule Replaces Older Late-Night LE BAR Hours
Current first-party information is consistent: bar service runs daily from 17:00 to midnight. The Veranda site shows evening service 17:00–24:00 every day after the daytime meal periods, and Sans Souci’s homepage repeats “Bar daily 5 pm – 12 am.” This is the schedule travellers should use.
Older sources show 17:30–24:00, 17:00–01:00 or later Friday-Saturday closing. Those reflect earlier LE BAR operations and should not be recycled into a 2026 page. The current hotel has deliberately simplified the public evening schedule as part of the integrated Veranda operation.
Private tastings fall within a narrower 18:00–21:00 request window. Dinner has its own kitchen cutoff. A midnight bar closing therefore does not mean a visitor can order every food item until 23:55. Check the current dinner menu and kitchen service when planning a meal rather than drinks only.
The daytime split in Veranda’s schedule is also worth understanding. Monday-Friday the venue operates 07:00–15:00 and then reopens 17:00–24:00; weekends and holidays use 11:00–14:00 and 17:00–24:00. For the legacy LE BAR record, only the evening 17:00–24:00 bar window is relevant. A guest arriving at 16:00 may therefore find the restaurant between service periods even though the hotel itself is open continuously.

A Modern Bar inside a Historic Sans Souci Building
Sans Souci occupies a historic Burggasse building associated with nineteenth-century hospitality and entertainment. Current hotel press material notes that a restaurant known as Zum großen Zeisig once occupied the site and that Johann Strauss presented the Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka there in 1858. The building later operated as Hotel Höller from 1873 until 1953 before the modern Sans Souci redevelopment.
The current boutique hotel opened after a major twenty-first-century renovation and uses contemporary art and design rather than recreating the nineteenth-century interior. The champagne bar therefore belongs to a modern luxury interpretation of a historic address. This is not a preserved imperial tavern.
That contrast suits the MuseumsQuartier location. Sans Souci positions itself between imperial Vienna and the creative seventh district, and Veranda’s art-driven branding makes more sense in that context than an isolated old-style champagne salon. Travellers interested in design may find the current integrated concept more coherent than the previous separation of bar and restaurant names.

Volkstheater Access, Full Hotel Accessibility and Reservation Strategy
Sans Souci’s own directions identify U2/U3 Volkstheater as the principal public-transport stop. From Westbahnhof, U3 runs directly; from Hauptbahnhof, guests can use U1 then U3 or tram D. The hotel stands diagonally opposite the MuseumsQuartier, making it easy to combine with museum visits and Spittelberg evenings.
Vienna Tourism classifies the hotel as fully wheelchair accessible and lists elevator access and parking. The current hotel offers valet parking and an EV charging station. Because the bar is part of the hotel, those infrastructure advantages carry over to the evening experience, though specific terrace furniture and private tasting layouts should still be discussed in advance.
Reservations now run through Veranda rather than a clearly separate LE BAR system. Guests who want a private champagne tasting should use the dedicated tasting request. Ordinary drinks can be combined with a table reservation or approached more spontaneously depending on capacity. For a special evening, use the current `veranda@sanssouci-wien.com` contact rather than legacy LE BAR email details.
The hotel’s position opposite MuseumsQuartier makes this one of the easiest champagne-focused stops to combine with culture. Visitors can leave Leopold Museum, mumok or Volkstheater and reach the bar in minutes. Spittelberg restaurants and bars lie behind the hotel, so Veranda can also function as an aperitif stop before a more casual evening nearby. This geography is one reason the integrated all-day brand arguably makes more sense than the older isolated bar identity.
