Districts & Neighborhoods in Traun

Traun is comprised of six districts: Traun, St. Dionysen, St. Martin, Oedt, Haid, and Neubau. Every district has its own unique history, culture, and attractions.

• Traun: This district is rich in historical landmarks and important institutions. Here, you can find the Traun Castle, the main square, the city hall, the city gallery, and the Traun District Court. The castle has a rich history, with origins in the 12th century and undergoing multiple reconstructions in various architectural styles. The building currently contains a museum and a restaurant. The main square serves as the bustling center of the city, hosting a wide array of events and festivals all year round. The city hall is a contemporary structure that was inaugurated in 1985 and serves as the hub for the city administration and the city council. • St. Dionysen: This district is rich in history and culture, housing the Catholic parish church, the Protestant church, the Protestant school, and the Waldstadion. The Catholic parish church was constructed in 1882, showcasing a stunning neo-Gothic design and an impressive tower that reaches a height of 72 meters. The Protestant church was constructed in 1913, showcasing a magnificent neo-Romanesque design and boasting a towering height of 50 meters. The building was opened in 2012 and features a modern design and state-of-the-art equipment.
• Neubau: This district, known as Neubau, is the city’s newest and smallest. It is home to various important facilities such as the Traun railway station, the firefighters and red cross center, the telegraph office, and the Spinnerei. The Traun railway station, constructed in 1872, serves as the primary railway station for the city. The city is connected to Linz and other destinations in Upper Austria and beyond. The firefighters and red cross center was established in 1982 and serves as a home for the dedicated firefighters and the red cross of the city.
