Districts & Neighborhoods in Sölden
Sölden
The administrative center of the municipality and the principal village is Sölden. Having an elevation of 1,368 m above sea level, it boasts roughly 1,500 residents. The ski area’s hub, Sölden features two cable cars (Gaislachkoglbahn and Giggijochbahn) linking to the glaciers and slopes. Sölden also boasts a vibrant nightlife featuring numerous bars, restaurants, and clubs. Several of Sölden’s attractions are:
- 007 Elements: Located on the top of the Gaislachkogl mountain, a cinematic installation honoring James Bond is 007 Elements. It includes interactive displays, props, and movie scenes—especially from Spectre, which was shot in Sölden.
- Freizeit Arena: Offering an indoor pool, sauna, fitness centre, tennis court, bowling alley and restaurant, Freizeit Arena is a sports and leisure complex.
- Bike Republic Sölden: Bike Republic Sölden is a system of bike parks and paths catering to all levels of mountain bikers. Along with pump tracks, jumps, and bridges, it boasts over 40 km of naturally occurring and sculpted lines.
Hochsölden
On a sunny plateau above Sölden, Hochsölden is a little village situated 2,090 m above sea level. It features five four-star hotels and roughly three hundred residents. Direct access to the slopes and the ski school makes Hochsölden, a ski-in ski-out resort For those looking for a peaceful and leisureful holiday free from Sölden’s bustle, it is perfect. Hochsölden boasts a chapel and a panoramic restaurant as well.
Zwieselstein
Rising 1,472 m above sea level, Zwieselstein is a village at the junction of the Venter and the Gurgler rivers. There are perhaps three hundred people living there, plus several guesthouses and flats. Convenient base for exploring the nearby valleys and mountains including the Vent ski area, Timmelsjoch Pass, and Ötztal Glacier Road is Zwieselstein. Along with a few restaurants, a museum, and a church, Zwieselstein also has.
Vent
At the end of the Vent valley, Vent is a village perched 1,896 m above sea level. There are perhaps 150 people living there and some hotels and guesthouses. Vent is a classic alpine hamlet with a rustic and quiet vibe. With so many paths to the neighboring mountains, including the second highest mountain in Austria, the Wildspitze, hikers and mountaineers will find heaven here. Vent also features a museum, a church, a ski area and ski school.
Other neighborhoods
Sölden also has several other neighborhoods, such as:
- Heiligkreuz: A hamlet located at an elevation of 1,520 m above sea level, on the way to the Ötztal Glacier Road. It has a few farms and a chapel.
- Windau: A hamlet located at an elevation of 1,550 m above sea level, on the opposite side of the Ötztal valley. It has a few farms and a restaurant.
- Grünwald: A neighborhood located at an elevation of 1,500 m above sea level, above Sölden. It has a few chalets and apartments, as well as a toboggan run and a fun park.
- Wald: A neighborhood located at an elevation of 1,350 m above sea level, below Sölden. It has a few guesthouses and apartments, as well as a cross-country ski trail and a horse riding stable.
