Economy Of Schruns

Economy Of Schruns- Austria Travel Guide - By Travel S Helper

Before the start of the twentieth century, Schruns’ residents mostly lived on mercantile activities, animal husbandry, and agriculture. While their spouses and children stayed back, a sizable contingent sought work overseas as plasterers, bricklayers, or cabbage cutters.

Schruns claimed almost 350 domiciles by the turn of the century, a number that grew significantly before the First World War began. The population of the town in 1910 was about 1,600, same as that reported in 1850.

By 2003, the area consisted of 139 commercial businesses, involving 1,523 people and providing 196 apprenticeship prospects. It is interesting to note that some people who were gainfully employed and liable to pay taxes in 1861 also highlight the value of tourism in this regard.

Beginning mid-1973, construction on the Illwerke edifice on Batloggstrasse resulted in the relocation of Vorarlberger Illwerke AG’s planning departments to the recently built structure by 1976. Up until 2013, the planning and building activities at that site covered not only the Illwerke projects but also services provided to outside entities. Following the move to the new Illwerkezentrum Montafon (IZM) in Rodund, several municipal and regional institutions—including the Montafon music school, the nursing association, the Mobile Help (MoHi) Aussermontafon, and the library—have also moved to the structure currently known as “Haus Montafon.” Moreover, several businesses have found office space on the premises.

The JAM youth club came into being when the “Open Youth Work Montafon” group founded itself in 2005.

Built in Schruns/Tschagguns in 1971, the Alpenbad Montafon underwent addition of an artificial ice rink in 1976. 1995 was the last year the new football pitch on Wagenweg was built. These facilities under the name “Aktivpark Montafon” are highly known outside of the nearby area.

July 1, 1986 saw the founding of the “Aussermontafon Nursing Association”. The Maria Rast Hospital was taken over by Vorarlberg in 1994; later, in 1995, the St. Josefsheim Hospital changed its use to that of a nursing home serving those with chronic diseases. In 1994 the Dr. Sanatorium was built. Medical practitioner Dr. Christian Schenk specializes in trauma surgery operations, mostly including those carried out on the L 188.

Building the new social and health center in Ausserlitz has started. Under the direction of the “Liebenau Foundation,” this facility provides assisted living, nursing home care, after-care, a children’s play group, mobile assistance services, meals on wheels, and access to an internist. An integral part of the VAMED group, the Montafon Rehabilitation Clinic provides cardiology, orthopedics, and neurology rehabilitation services. This clinic enhances the current range of treatment quite effectively.
