Reiteralm Ski Area
Together with Hauser Kaibling, Planai and Hochwurzen, the Reiteralm is one of the four ski mountains that make up the Schladming 4-Mountain ski area. For skiers of all levels, Reiteralm offers 32 km of slopes, 15 lifts and a variety of attractions. The Reiteralm has easy, intermediate and challenging slopes depending on your preferences.
The Reiteralm, part of the Ski amadé ski alliance, resides in the Schladming-Dachstein ski area. In five ski areas (Schladming-Dachstein, Salzburger Sportwelt, Gastein, Hochkönig and Grossarltal), the Ski amadé ski pass gives you access to 760 km of pistes and 270 lifts. The ski pass can be purchased online or at the ski resort ticket offices. The season, length of stay and age of the skier affect the price.
Reiteralm can be reached by car, train or bus. If driving, you can use the A10 motorway and exit at Altenmarkt or Radstadt, then follow the signs for Reiteralm. The Silver Jet and Preunegg Jet gondola bases have free parking areas. If you are traveling by train, you can get off at Schladming or Radstadt stations and then take a bus or taxi to Reiteralm. If you travel by bus, the ski bus service connects nearby towns with the Schladming 4-Mountain ski area. For skiers with a valid ski pass, the ski bus is free.

The Ski Slopes on the Reiteralm
With a total of 32 km of pistes, the Reiteralm has 12 km of blue pistes (easy), 15 km of red pistes (intermediate) and 5 km of black pistes (difficult). The ski resort’s 100% snowmaking capacity helps keep the slopes well-maintained and reliable. The wide and varied slopes present varying degrees of challenge and views. Among the most used and fascinating tracks of the Reiteralm are these:
- Finale Grande: At 3.6 km and with a gradient of 700 m, Finale Grande is the longest piste in the Reiteralm. It starts at the top of the Silver Jet gondola and ends at the base station. Although it has some steeper parts that require more speed and skill, it is a red hill suitable for intermediate skiers. In addition to a fantastic walk through the forest, the track offers panoramic views of the Dachstein Mountains and the Enns Valley.
- Black Quartet: Four black runs aimed at advanced and expert skiers who enjoy the challenge make up Black Quartet. Black Queen (Track No. 4), Black Power (Track No. 3a), Black Rose (Track No. 2), Black Horse (Track No. 10) comprise the four tracks. They are all steep, narrow and bumpy; Therefore, good technique and balance are very important.Professional skiers and racers also use the Black Quartet as a training ground, so you might find some of them on the slopes.
- Gasselhöhe: This red hill, which runs from the top of the Gasselhöhe chairlift to the Preunegg Jet gondola. - Holzer: This blue slope, which runs from the top of the Holzer chairlift to the base station of the Silver Jet cable car, is ideal for families and beginners. - Cross Park: Cross Park is a Reiteralm park where freestyle techniques and skills can be honed. Among the various elements of the cross country park are jumps, rails, boxes and waves. From beginners to experts, the cross country park is suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
- Kids’ Cool Running Course: Designed in Reiteralm, this course allows the little ones to learn to ski while having fun. On the course there is a conveyor belt, a magic carpet, a carousel and a slalom course. Appropriate ski instructors supervise the course and teach children the fundamentals of skiing in a safe and joyful way.
- Ski Huts: Reiteralm has numerous ski lodges, restaurants and bars with umbrellas where you can savor the mountain environment and local cuisine. Among the most popular ski huts are the Reiteralmhütte with its spacious sun terrace and self-service restaurant, the Schoberalm with a cozy fireplace and a traditional menu, the Hochalm with panoramic views and rustic style and the Seestüberl with views of the lake and modern design.
Reiteralm Ski Lifts
The Reiteralm consists of a funicular, a cable car, nine gondolas, a combined chairlift and three chairlifts. In total, the Reiteralm has fifteen lifts. Access to practically the entire ski area is possible thanks to the modern, welcoming and efficient lifts. Safety features also abound in elevators, such as automatic barriers, seat heating and weather protection. The following are the main elevators of the Reiteralm:
- Hopsi-Express: This funicular, which connects the valley station of the Silver Jet gondola with the Planai ski area, is called Hopsi-Express. The funicular is named after Hopsi, the mascot of the 1982 World Alpine Ski Championships held in Schladming.
- Tauern Seilbahn: From the valley station of the Preunegg Jet gondola lift, the Tauern Seilbahn cable car runs to the top of the Reiteralm at 1860 m. Although it dates back to 1960, this is the oldest elevator in the Reiteralm; It has been rebuilt and modernized several times. In addition to access to some of the Reiteralm’s most difficult pistes, such as the Black Quartet, the cable car offers stunning views of the Dachstein Glacier and the Enns Valley.
- Silver Jet: From the Reiteralm valley station to the central station at 1640 m this cable car called Silver Jet will take you. Since the Reiteralm ski area has a large parking lot and is easily accessible from the main road, it is the main access point . The gondola moves at 6 m/s and has capacity for 10 people per cabin. It also has a ski storage room, where heated lockers allow you to store your boots and equipment.
- Preunegg Jet: From the valley station of Reiteralm to the central station at 1580 m you will take this cable car called Preunegg Jet. Given its proximity to the village of Pichl and the car park, it is another access point to the Reiteralm ski area. With eight people per cabin and a speed of six m/s, the gondola can transport. Its ski locker allows you to store your boots and equipment in heated cabinets.
- Schoberbahn: From the central station of the Silver Jet cable car, the Schoberbahn chairlift departs to the upper station, 1800 m away. Installed in 2020, it is a new elevator that replaces the old double. With six people per chair and a speed of five m/s, the chairlift can transport. - Lärchkogelbahn: From the central station of the Preunegg Jet cable car, the Lärchkogelbahn chairlift runs to the upper station at 1820 m. Installed in 2020, it is another new lift replacing the outdated triple chairlift. With a speed of 5.5 m/s and a capacity for eight people per chair, the chairlift also offers comfort and bubble protection and seat heating.
