Hochwurzen Ski Area
Located at the western end of the Enns Valley, Hochwurzen, a jewel among the seven ski resorts hidden in the Schladming-Dachstein area, perfectly combined with Planai, Hauser Kaibling and Reiteralm, creates an incomparable winter wonderland right in the large area of 4-Mountain Ski Area. Hochwurzen attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels with its extraordinary 44 km of slopes, its network of 12 lifts and its kaleidoscope of winter events.
The Hochwurzen cable car, which leaves from the small town of Rohrmoos, is the main means of access to the ski area. In just seven minutes, this modern 8-person gondola takes skiers and snowboarders from the valley station at 777 meters to the summit station at 1,272 meters. The cable car, which runs daily in both winter and summer, guarantees easy access to the slopes and offers a stunning view of the Schladming-Dachstein area and the large Dachstein glacier. Touring Lake Hochwurzen, a haven for ice skating, curling, fishing and boating in all seasons, the trip itself becomes an attraction.
Hochwurzen Ski Slopes
The Hochwurzen ski area reveals a magnificent tapestry of 29 kilometers of pistes with varying degrees of difficulty. Eleven lifts guarantee perfect navigation through the terrain: cable cars, chairlifts, ski lifts, magic carpets. Renowned for their reliability and snow variety, the carefully maintained runs cater to the unique tastes and abilities of each skier and snowboarder.
With the longest and most difficult of any piste in the resort, the FIS downhill is the crown jewel of the Hochwurzen ski area. Over five kilometers, this adrenaline-filled dive has a dizzying maximum slope of 26% and a drop of 1,072 meters. Rising from the summit of Hochwurzen and ending at the valley station, this hill invites experienced and advanced skiers to challenge their skill in a world-class race.
For snowboarders and freestylers, the fun slope becomes an exciting refuge. This action-packed 1 mile downhill race is interspersed with rails, boxes, kickers and waves, among other challenges. To enhance the experience, the fun track has a practical snack bar, a chill-out area and a sound system.
